22、tyforfirefighting. IEC61034ispublishedintwoparts, whichtogetherspecifyamethodoftestformeasurementof smokedensity of cablesburningunder definedconditions. Users of this test areremindedthat the configurations of cable in the test (i.e. as test piecesorbundles of test pieces) maynotrepresentactualinst

ThisPart 1gives details of the test apparatus and verification procedure to be usedfor themeasurement of smoke density of the products of combustionofcables burnt under definedconditions. 30、ons of3 000 mm30 mm and constructed of asuitable material fixed on to asteel angle frame. Onesideshall haveadoor, withaglass inspection window. Transparent sealed windows(minimum size 100 mm 100 mm) shall be provided on two opposite sides to permit thetransmissionofabeamoflightfromthehorizontalphoto
31、metricsystem.Thedistancefromthefloor to the centre of these windows shallbe 2 150 mm 100 mm (see Figure 1for planview).The wallsofthe enclosure shallinclude orifices at ground level (i.e. not greater than 100 mmabovethe level of the chamberfloor) forthe passage of cables, etc., and to permittheenclo
32、suretobeatatmosphericpressure. No orifice shall be directly behind the fire source or on the same wall. Aminimumoftwoorifices shall be provided and the total area of the orifices open during the test shall be50cm2 10 cm2 . NOTE 1Two orifices, each with an area of 25 cm5cm, and locatedontwo opposite
33、walls, one underthe lightsourceandoneunderthereceiverhavebeenfoundtobesuitable. NOTE 2Itshouldnormally b
34、e possible to extract fumesfromthe enclosure after each test through aductcompletewithvalve whichshouldbeclosedduringthe test. Theduct may include afan to increase the rate ofextraction. It shall abut on the back wall (with amaximum gap of 10 mm) at apoint 750 mm 25mm from the side wall, and shall be curvedto intersectthe centre line of the enclosure at apoint 1400 mm 25mm from the point of
36、abutment. 5Photometricsystem5.1 The photometric system is illustrated in Figure 2. The lightsourceand the receiver shallbe placedexternally in the centre of both windows in the two opposite walls of the cubewithout making physical contact. The lightbeam shalltraverse the cube through the glasswindow
37、sinthesidewalls. 5.2 Thelightsourceshallbeahalogenlampwithatungstenfilamentwithaclearquartzbulbhavingthefollowingcharacteristics:nominalpower: 100 W;nominalvoltage: 12 Vd.c.;nominalluminousflux: 2 000 lmto3 000 lm;nominalcolourtemperature: 2800 Kto3 200 K. The bulb shall be supplied with avoltage of
38、 12,0 V 0,1 V (mean value). During the test, thevoltage shall be stabilized to arangeof 0,01 V (see A.2c) for additionalguidance.) Thelamp shall be mounted in ahousing and the beam adjusted by alenssystem to give anevenlyilluminatedcircularareaof 1,5m 0,1 mdiameterontheinterioroftheoppositewall. 5.3
39、 The receptor photocell shallbeofthe selenium or silicon type with aspectral responsematchingthe InternationalCommission on Illumination (CIE) photopic observer (equivalent tothe human eye). The photocell shall be mounted at the end of 150 mm 10 mm tube with adust protection window at the otherend.
40、The inside of the tube shall be matt black to preventreflections. Thephotocell shallbeconnected to apotentiometric recorder to produce alinearproportional output. The cell shallberesistance-loaded to operate in its linear range and theinput impedance of the recorder shall be at least 104 times great
41、er than the load resistanceofthecellwhichshallnotexceed 100 . 5.4 The photometric system shallbeenergizedbeforethe blanktest. Whenstability hasbeenattained, thezeroandfullscalereadingoftherecordershallbeadjustedforlightonthedetectorcorrespondingto 0 % (absenceoflight) and 100 % luminoustransmission.
42、 NOTE 1 Periodically, for example at the beginning of atest series, the performance of the photocell should beverified by placing standardneutral density filters in the light beam. It is essential that these filters cover the entireoptical port of the photocell and the values oftransmittancemeasured
43、bythephotocellgiveavalueofparameterAwithin 5 % of the calibrated value of the filter. The filters should also permit the verification of the linearity ofresponseofthedetectorwhichshouldbeproportionaltothetransmittanceoflightintherangeused.NOTE 2 Most neutral density filtersare designated accordingto

45、90 % 1 %methanol: 4 % 1 %water: 6 % 1 %. When adenaturingagentisaddedtothe alcohol, it shallhavenoeffectonthe smokeemissionofanycableundertest. The alcohol shallbecontained in atray made from galvanized or stainless steel with jointedsealed edges, atrapezoidal trunk sectionand the following interior

Thetrayshall be supported at aheight of 100 mm 10 mm from the floor on an open sidedframeworktopermitaircirculationaroundandbeneaththetray. 7SmokemixingIn order
47、toensureuniform distribution of thesmoke, atable-type fan shall be placed on thefloor of the cube as shown in Figure 1, the fan axisbeing between 200 mm and 300 mm fromthe floor and the distance from the wall being 500 mm50 mm. The fan shall have abladesweep of 300 mm60 mm and aflow rate of 7m3 /min
48、 to 15 m 3 /min. Air shallthen be blownhorizontally by the fan during the tests but the ignition source shall be protected by thescreenasshown.
