24、dLogisticSupport(ILS)approachisjustifiedinthespacecontextbyimprovementofcurrentpractices intermsofdevelopmentofmaterialresourcesandservicesessentialtosupportoperationandmaintenanceandto controlassociatedoperationalrisks,particularlyintermsofutilizationcostandavailability. Itisalsojustifiedbyheighten
25、ingtheawarenessofalltheprogrammesandprojectparticipantsoftheneedforcost effectivepreparation,transfer,andmanagementofinformationneededtooperate,maintain,resupplyanddispose ofaproduct.Thisisaswellasensuringtherecordingofunscheduledeventsinordertoperformessentialsupport analyses. TheILSapproachdiffers
26、fordifferenttypesofspaceprogrammesorprojectsandthisInternationalStandard permitsappropriatetailoring.Consequently,therequirementsinthisEuropeanStandardareappliedat managementlevel,withidentificationoftheobjectivestobeachieved,ratherthanwithmethodsandtechniquesto beimplementedtoachievetheseobjectives

Logisticsupportisnotanewactivity:itsintegrationintotheprogrammeorprojectisforcoordinating,throughoutthe lifecycle,theactivitiesandresourcesinvolvedinthepreparationandoptimizationofthesystemanditssupport elements,aimingatminimumoveralllifecyclecost,accordingtotherequire

Theadvantagesandincreasedefficiencyresultingfromintegratingthelogisticsupportrequiresthatthelogistic supportfunctionsneedtobeaddressedstartingfromprogrammeorprojectdefinition.Italsorequiresthatan integratedapproachbeestablishedbetweenthedesignanddevelopmentofthesystemandthe

Theserequirementsalsoaim,throughouttheproductlifecycle,atimplementingeverythingpertinenttothecontrol oftherisksconsideredascriticalregardingthe
