、I GSM*04mLO 94 E 3400855 0053268 699 1 General 1.1 Scope In this technical specification the general aspects of the specification of supplementary services at the layer 3 radio interface are given. Technical specifications GSM 04.8 and 04.9-series specify the procedures used at the radio interface (

、reference point Um as defined in technical specification GSM 04.02) for normal operation, registration, erasure, activation, deactivation, invocation and interrogation of supplementary services. Provision and withdrawal of supplementary services is an administrative matter between the mobile subscri

、ber and the service provider and cause no signalling on the radio interface. Technical specifications GSM 04.08 and GSM 04.80 specifies the formats and coding for the supplementary services. Definitions and descriptions of supplementary services are given in technical specifications GSM 02.04 and GS

、M 02.8 and 02.9-series. Technical realization of supplementary services is described in technical specifications GSM 03.1 1 and GSM 03.8 and 03.9-series. The procedures for Call Control, Mobility Management and Radio Resource management at the layer 3 radio interface are defined in technical specifi

、nd its scope One generic protocol is defined for the control of supplementary services at the radio interface. This protocol operates at layer 3 of the radio interface and assumes the use of layers 1 and 2 conform to technical specifications GSM 05-series and technical specifications GSM 04.04, GSM

、04.05 and GSM 04.06. The generic protocol uses the acknowledged information transfer service available at the layer 2 - layer 3 interface. The Functional protocol is based on the use of the Facility information element and the FACILITY message as well as other specific functional messages specified in TS GSM 04.80. Standardised services use a functional protocol. A transparent protocol is also provided. The functional protocol requires the knowledge of the related supplementary service by the mobile equipment supporting it. This
