The present document provides a single document within which proprietary Short Message Service Centre (S

49、MSC) to Short Message Entity (SME) interface standards are accommodated as optional implementations. Publication in the present document of the de facto protocols, should limit the proliferation of proprietary standards and will benefit new SC/SME developers who may then adopt one or more of the existing protocols outlined. The present document describes a range of alternative interfaces which may be utilised by SMSC and SME, developers for the connection of SMEs to SMSCs within the digital cellular telecommunications system.
