1、Manufacturing Standards Ford. Motor Company INDUSTRIAL WASHERS BKX 1. SCOPE 1.1 The intent of this standard is to provide alI operations of the Ford Motor Company with a current, authoritative Standard for Industrial Washers. This standard eliminates the necessity of compiling a completely new and d

2、etailed specification for each washer contemplated; further, basic design and engineering rquirements are defined in the best interest of all Company operations. 1.2 Manufacturing Guideline C2-8 for component part cleanliness requirements shall be considered part of this standard. . 2. DESIGN . 2.1

3、The requisitioning activity shall furnish the following information and include require- ments in their supplemental specification regarding washing equipment details: Type of contamination to be removed. Determination of residual soil loading and procedure to be used shall be as specified by rquisi

4、tioning manufacturing engineering activity. Maximum allowable residual soil loading in specific areas of the part after cleaning, as specified by Product Engineering as an Engineering Requirement. Material to be cleaned. Size, shape and weight of part, or a part print. Conveyor height, speed and met

5、hod (pneumatic, electric or hydraulic) of conveying parts to and from the washer. Production capacity, at 100% washer efficiency. Selection of suitable washing cycle, recommended compound as outlined by applicable Process Standards, and washer water temperature. Number of stages required, i.e., wash

6、 and rinse or blow-off. Maximum allowable temperature of parts preceding and succeeding the washer, i.e., tests, precision operations. Whether an automatic solution concentration controller is to be furnished as part of the washer. See Paragraph 6. Equipment insulation, if required. Sludge removal m

7、ethod. See Paragraph 8. Requirements with regard to counterweighted tank covers. Plant layout of the area in which washer is to be installed. 8、SHERS DESIGN h REFERENCE DATA BKX Page 1 B Manufacturing Standards Ford Motor Company Energy conservation practices , i.e., minimizing heating, cooling and compressed air requirements; using energy efficient components; sizing washer components to match load requirements. 2.2 The actual Positioning

9、of the part shall be the joint responsibility of the requisitioning activity and the washer contractor. It may involve the design of a special carrier, with due consideration given to thorough draining of the part, internally and externally. The carrier and washer design drawings must be approved by

10、 the issuing division before fabrication of the washer will be permitted. However, the responsibility for the required cleanliness and drying is that of the washer contractor. Final approval of the equipment shalI be the responsibiiity of the requisitioning activity upon proof of satisfactory operat

11、ion of the equipment under production operating conditions. The instructions contained in the General Machine Specification and Procurement Handbook shall be considered part of this standard. 2.3 Consult the requisitioning activity for the Ford Material and Process Standards for washing procedure, t

12、ypes of cleaning compounds and concentrations, as well as cleaning time and solution temperatures. The use of chillers must have the prior approval of the rquisitioning activity. Consult Plant Engineering Department of the rquisitioning activity for requirements regarding the drain deck. 3. HOUSING

13、3.1 The complete washer housing and drain sheets shall be constructed of 10 gauge minimum steel plate with necessary reinforcing angles to prevent buckling. Suitable silhouettes and neoprene splash curtains shall be provided at the washer entrance and exit, and between stages to confine overspray. A

14、ccess panels, cleanout doors, and coil removal plates shall be watertight and attached to the washer proper with suitable devices for quick removal. Side access panels shall be hinged type incorporating a quick locking device and suitable neoprene gaskets for positive watertight closure with drip li

15、ps to drain back into housing. Horizontal or vertical sliding panels are not acceptable. Aaess panels in the spray zone shall be sized to permit easy access to all spray risers, headers and spray nozzles without rquiring a man to enter the washer. Access doors on fixture or index type washers shall

16、be sized to provide complete access to all components. All welding shall be continuous on both sides to make the housing watertight and conform to the standards of the American Welding Society. 4. CONVEYORS - INDEX AND TRANSFER MECHANISM 4.1 Where a monorail conveyor is to be used, the conveyor rail

17、 shall be furnished and bolted in place completely through the washer, extending one foot beyond the entrance and exit ends. Structural supporting steel on the housing shall be of sufficient strength to support the fully loaded conveyor. A splash guard, hinged on one side, to protect the chain and m

18、onorail shall be provided from the washer entrance vestibule to the exit of the blow- off. 4.2 Where the conveyor is an integral part of the washer, the conveyor and its component parts shall conform to Ford Manufacturing Standards, Conveyor, Section *CV* 4.3 Index and transfer type washers shall be

19、 furnished with polished or ground work hardening steel equivalent to Manufacturing Standard M-3Al3 transfer rails, supported by structural members to hold parts. 20、et, the blow-off shall be adjusted, all motors shall be checked for possible overloading and any changes requested by authorized Ford Motor Company personnel, who shall be present during the test, shall be incorporated. Sample parts shall be furnished to the contractor as an aid to construction and

21、testing for residual surface contamination. Final testing to be accomplished after installation in the field. Contractor to provide field service personnel for supervision of installation, initial start-up and field testing. Acceptance shall be based on cleaning of actual parts at specified design c
