2、n power & free conveyordeclines with a 6-0“ or greater change in elevation and where produc-tion personnel are located near the bottom of the vertical curve suchthat the potential for injury exists in the event of a run-away condi-tion. The decline safety conveyor shall prevent any overspeed run-awa

3、ymotion of the carriers due to chain breakage or disengagement from thechain.The safety conveyor shall be equipped with an air release/spring set“failsafe“ caliper disc brake. Brakes shall be held open by means of aplant air supply which is interlocked to set the brake when the conveyoris not runnin

4、g.Chain and I-beam size of safety conveyor shall be the same as the mainconveyor.Braking devices shall be capable of holding a load at a minimum of 200percent of power and free drive rating or the load inertia force,whichever is greater.An electrical device and controls shall be provided for the inc

GUARDS9.1 FALLING PARTS GUARDFalling parts guard shall be provided und

6、er the conveyor system inaccordance with Manufacturing Standard CGX1.9.2 MACHINERY GUARDSMachinery guards shall be provided on all moving parts of drives,i.e. sheaves, belts, sprockets, chains, couplings, as described inManufacturing Standard KZ3X-19.3 FINGER AND PINCH GUARDSFinger and Pinch guards

7、shall be provided on all rails, rollerturns and vertical curves wherever the bottom of the rail is below8-0“ measured from the plant floor or work platform.9.4 AWARENESS GUARDSPersonnel Awareness guard shall be provided to restrict access topotentially hazardous area. Design and location shall be ap

8、provedby the safety engineer. Example: At bottom of vertical curves.9.5 BARRIER GUARDSHigh lifts, side mask mast fork lifts, drop lifters, etc. shall beguarded on (4) sides, restricting access to the equipment from thefloor level to bottom chord of truss. Access for the product shallbe limited to th

9、e silhouette of the product plus nominal clearance,providing for protection from access by personnel when the productis being raised or lowered.10. DRIP PANSSee Manufacturing Standard CGX111. DRIVES11.1 GENERALAll power and free drives shall be rotary floating caterpillar typeand shall be provided w

10、ith safety brakes and limit switch overloadprotection set to operate at 500 pounds above the chain pullcapacity of the drive. Drivesare not to be installed at the start of inclines nor at the bottomof declines.Design of the

12、system with multiple drives, shall locate the drivesso that each units pull is approximately the same. If any onedrive is out of service, the remaining units shall be capable ofaccepting the additional chain pull requirement.Caterpillar chain loop shall be of RC 160 roller chain with steelhardened r

13、ollers and bushings and equipped with forged hardeneddogs. Caterpillar chain assembly shall be reversible so thatopposite faces of dogs can be utilized.Caterpillar sub-base assembly shall consist of a roller nestassembly and a retractable, adjustable, high alloy backup bar. Thebackup bar alignment s

14、crew to have locking-in-place means forprevention of bar movement after alignment of chain.Backup bar retainer assembly is to be capable of retractingcaterpillar chain from conveyor chain by means of jack screw andhandwheel assembly. Handwheel to be locked in position by means ofremovable retaining

15、pin.11.2 REDUCERSDrive reducers shall be selected on the basis of output torquerequirements using 3,000 pounds chain pull for X-458 chain and5,000 pounds chain pull for X-678 chain.11.3 MOTORSDrives shall be equipped with an A.C. foot mounted “U“ frame motor,totally enclosed, ball bearing type, unle

16、ss specified otherwise bythe requisitioning activity.12. TAKE-UPSAll take-up assemblies shall be located on the power only return trackand immediately after a drive at a point of minimum chain tension.Alternate location must be approved by the requisitioning activity.Take-up units shall consist of 1

18、re uncontrolled.Systems Engineering (ESSE) Page 10 of 13Take-ups shall be air operated complete with lube-for-life air cylin-ders, safety link chain, FR units, pressure switch/indicator, valves andcontrols, unless specified otherwise by the requisitioning activity.The effective travel of the take-up

19、 shall be sufficient to remove onecomplete job spacing plus a minimum of 2- 0“ additional travel fordisassembly and reassembly of the conveyor chain. The minimum travelshall be four (4) linear feet of take-up movement.Air and Air/Hydraulic take-up units shall be equipped with three (3)limit switches

20、, actuators and indicating lights which shall signify thefollowing:- Take-up fully retracted (shut drive off and illuminate warning light)- Take-up fully extended (shut drive off and illuminate warning light)- Take-up near fully extended (illuminate warning light)13. CARRIERS AND LOAD BARSA prototyp

21、e carrier shall be provided to the Owner for review andapproval before proceeding with the fabrication of the balance of thecarriers. If required, modification shall be incorporated into allcarriers.The carrier and load bar are to be designed to evenly distribute thecarrying load between the front a

22、nd rear load carrying trolleys. Due tothe shifting of loads center of gravity on inclines and declines, thedesign of load bar and/or number of load bearing trolleys shall limitthe resultant dynamic loading on any one(1) wheel of a trolley assemblyto 75 percent of manufacturer recommended wheel loadi

23、ng.13.1 CARRIER STOPSStop shall be designed and installed such that stop blade and otherrelated moving components shall be enclosed within the stop frame.At no time shall moving components be allowed to extend past thestop frame, presenting a safety concern. Removable “see through“guarding shall be

24、used to serve as protection against thiscondition.The stop blade shall not come in contact with the free trolleywheels and shall be mounted so as to be self relieving from thetrolley body upon retracting.The blade tip in the extended position shall bear against a steelblock to prevent any torque mom

26、in pull resulting from a jam condition, the impact forces duringcarrier accumulation, and other normal operating condition withoutincurring any damage. The stop blade shall be fabricated in onepiece from high carbon, heat treated steel. The leading edge shallbe beveled to minimize the wear on the fr

27、ont accumulating trolley.The blade shall be removable for service or replacement.All stop blades are to extend into the carrier stop position uponde-energization of the stops valve.A free trolley anti-backup device shall be provided at each stop toprevent the carrier from backing out of the stop and

28、 reengaging thechain.13.2 CARRIER PUSHERCarrier transfer pusher assembly shall consist of a carriage,lube-for-life air cylinder, pusher dog, tracks, frame, sensors,FR, valve, speed control valves and controls. Pusher frame assemblyto be fastened to the side of a power and free track section.Pusher c

29、arriage to be constructed of structural steel containingfour (4) roller bearings, two (2) side guide roller bearing wheels,pivoting anti-backup made from 1045 hardened steel or sure alloysteel, and counterweighted pusher dog.The speed and timing of pusher shall be such that carrier trolleypickup dog

30、 arrives in position for pickup prior to chain dogsarrival and yet not bump into previously transferred carrier.13.3 CARRIER STOP AND PUSHERCarrier stop and pusher shall be as described under Section 13.2,Carrier Pusher, with the addition of a holdback and itsdisengagement cam.The function of the ho

32、g (ESSE) Page 12 of 1313.4 CARRIER POSITIONERCarrier positioner shall be as described under section 13.2 carrierpusher.The positioner shall be located whenever precision carrier/partlocation is required. The positioner is to be used in conjunctionwith a carrier stop. The accuracy of the positioned c

33、arrier shallbe determined by the requisitioning activity.14. TRACK SWITCHESAll switches shall be of the pivoting tongue design fabricated from SAE1045 hardened steel. The tongue shall be attached to a vertical pivotingshaft which is to be aligned with two trust bearings and framing. Thisassembly is

34、to be an integral part of the P&F track assembly.The tip of the switch tongue shall be vertically supported in bothpositions by bars welded to the bottom of the free track channels. Thesebars shall be flared to guide the tongue into position. Sound absorbingmaterial is required.Switches for divertin

35、g trolleys shall be air cylinder operated. The aircylinder shall be directly connected to the tongue and must produce aminimum of 200 pounds of force at the end of the tongue.Entrance switches shall operate by means of the free trolley movementthrough the switch camming the switch tongue into positi

36、on.Exit switches shall operate the tongue positioning by means of a 2“minimum diameter bore, factory lube-for-life air cylinder.All entrance switches shall be provided with tongue position detection.All curved sections of the track and the switch tongue shall provide aminimum bearing surface of 3/4“

37、 for the free trolley side guide rollers.15. CARRIER CHAIN-TO-CHAIN TRANSFERFour (4) chain-to-chain transfer conditions, described in terms ofrelative speed, shall be used on power and free conveyor systems:- Fast-to-fast transfers- Fast-to-slow transfers- Slow-to-slow transfers- Slow-to-fast transf

39、od withtowing trolley or trolley containing a wide wing dog. Control of thestop and pusher shall be by sensors located on the receiving conveyordetecting available carrier spacing and on delivery conveyor detectingjob at pusher. Where carrier switching is involved, the break awayconveyor shall conta

40、in the stop and pusher assembly.Fast to slow transfers shall be accomplished by utilizing an automaticair operated stop and pusher and an additional automatic air operatedstop positioned one (1) carrier spacing behind stop and pusher or by theuse of the dog to dog method with towing trolley or the t

41、rolley contain-ing a wide wing dog and a stop one (1) carrier space prior to transfer.Slow to slow transfers shall be accomplished by utilizing an automaticair operated pusher, by utilizing secondary dogs on chain and carrier orby using the dog to dog method with towing trolley or trolley containing

42、a wide wing dog. Both slow conveyors and pusher must be speed synchro-nized and electrically interlocked.Slow to fast transfers shall be accomplished by utilizing either anautomatic air operated pusher, by utilizing secondary dogs on the chainand carrier or by using the dog to dog method with towing

43、 trolleycontaining a wide wing dog. Both conveyors are to be electricallyinterlocked so that whenever fast chain is stopped or if carrier spaceis not available on fast chain, slow chain is to stop. Starting of fastchain, or when carrier space is created on fast chain, will start slowchain unless slo

44、w chain conveyor is manually stopped. Control of pushershall be by sensors on fast conveyor detecting position of fast chaindog and available carrier space and on slow conveyor detecting job atpusher.Power chain pusher dog deflectors shall be provided at all transferringareas to prevent jamming into

45、 free trolley assembly.16. LUBRICATIONAutomatic lubricators, with remote and easily accessible reservoir,shall be provided for chain pin, power trolley and free trolley wheels.Its programming function shall be controlled by a predetermined amountof conveyor usage (actual running time) as provided by

46、 the requisition-ing activity.Manual lubricating fittings shall be provided on all rotating, sliding,and pivoting surfaces and bearings such as, guide rollers, tractionwheel, stop side guides, king pins, pivot pins, switch bearings, etc.Lubrication of all above areas, plus at all dedogging up/down leverpoints and accumulating cam slide surfaces, shall be performed byconveyor supplier prior to equipment start-up.
