2、INTRODUCTION 1.1 Notes are used to supply necessary information not covered by dimensions. Notes must be in English, concise and worded so that the meaning cannot be misconstrued. Notes should be in the present tense, preferably in the form of an instruction. For example: PAINT HERE rather than TO B

3、E PAINTED HERE. 1.2 See Standard E2, Special Controls, for notes relating to Control Items, Critical Characteristics, and Significant Characteristics. 1.3 For Product Engineering drawings, notes or drawing callouts containing the part or assemblys vehicle usage is not permitted on the field of the d

4、rawing. 2 DEFINITIONS 2.1 SUPPORTING DOCUMENT: A Supporting Document, as it applies to this standard, is a released or published document that serves as an extension of the product drawing. These are used to add further testing or requirements necessary for the definition, production and approval of

5、 the part. 3 REQUIREMENTS 3.1 (RESERVED) 3.2 GENERAL NOTES 3.2.1 Located in the lower right-hand corner of the drawing to the left of the Title Block. Leader lines from these notes to the object are not used. See Figure E1.1. Figure E1.1 3.2.2. For CtM this information resides with and follows the T

Return to TOC ENGINEERING CAD & DRAFTING STANDARDS 3.2.3 General notes on a drawing apply at the time of initial release and through the life of the part. Some general notes affect the cost, fit, form or function of the part. Such general notes

7、 should not be updated when a drawing is modified unless explicitly requested in the electronic release system. This permits Product Engineering and the supplier to understand the implications of the change prior to modifying the drawing. Typographical errors, etc. may be corrected without affecting

8、 the part. 3.3 SPECIFIC NOTES 3.3.1 Located as close to the object referred to as practical, usually outside the outline of the object. See Figure E1.2. When there are very large objects, it is permissible to place notes within the outline of the object to avoid long leader lines. Figure E1.2 3.4 RE

9、FERENCING OF NOTES 3.4.1 When a specific note cannot be placed adjacent to the feature to which it refers, or if the note is applicable to a number of features on the drawing, the note may be included in the general notes and cross referenced to the feature. 3.5 SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION NOTE 3.5.1 W

10、hen a Ford supporting document conforming to ISO 9000 such as an Engineering Material Specification (WSS, etc.) Examples 1, 2 & 3, Global Manufacturing Standard (GMS) Example 4, Engineering Specification (ES) Example 5, Weld Specification (WS) Example 6, Joint Specification (JS) Example 7, System De

11、sign Specification (SDS), Example 8 and associated requirements, and/or Attribute Requirement List (ARL) Example 9, is shown on the drawing, a Supporting Documentation note conforming to the syntax below is added. 18、CESS NOTE 3.5.2.1 Product engineering drawings shall not be used to deviate from the stated intent of the released supporting document. If the supporting document requires changes to bring the part into conformance, the document shall be changed using the appropriate formal change process. All drawi

19、ngs having one or more supporting document notes shall add the following Supporting Document Change Process note: CHANGES TO SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS SHALL BE MANAGED USING THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED CHANGE AND APPROVAL PROCESS 3.5.2.2 Exceptions to any portion or paragraph of the supporting document shall

20、only be used when specific portions of the supporting document DO NOT APPLY to the design of the component. In the case that exceptions are added, all exceptions shall be approved by Ford Product Engineering Management in writing prior to drawing release. See the example below NOTE: Exceptions SHALL

21、 NOT BE USED to deviate from the stated intent of the supporting document, i.e. excluding a test requirement crucial to a Control Item part, see para. 3.5.2 Exceptions to Engineering Material Specifications are permitted with the agreement of the Materials Engineering Activity Exception Examples: ES

24、CIFICATION NOTE 3.5.4.1 Supplier Specification Number(s) are not permitted on Product Engineering Drawings unless the supplier specification is more stringent. See Standard A-1 para. 3.8.1.3.1. When Supplier Specification(s) are required for Production Validation, the following Supplier Specificatio

25、n note shall be added in the General Notes area: SUPPLIER SPECIFICATIONS MAY APPLY AT PPAP ALL SUPPLIER SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE APPROVED FOR USE BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY PRODUCT ENGINEERING AND SHALL BE PRODUCED UPON REQUEST 3.6 (RESERVED) 3.9 CHANGES TO DESIGN NOTE 3.9.1 Notes may be required to provi

26、de additional controls relating to performance, quality or appearance. These notes are added at the direction of the crossfunctional team. The following Changes to Design note shall be added to all newly released Product Engineering drawings. The note instructs a supplier/partner to notify Ford Moto

27、r Company Product Engineering of any proposed changes to a released part. CHANGES TO DESIGN, COMPOSITION OR PROCESSING OF THE PART PREVIOUSLY APPROVED FOR PRODUCTION REQUIRE PRIOR APPROVAL FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY PRODUCT ENGINEERING. REFER TO ISO/TS 16949 3.10 (Reserved) 3.11 APPEARANCE NOTES 3.11.1

28、 APPEARANCE ITEM NOTE 3.11.1.1 The following Appearance Item note is required on Product Engineering drawings of end item parts and assemblies which have been designated as appearance items requiring Design Center approval: DESIGN CENTER APPROVAL OF APPEARANCE FEATURES REQUIRED PRIOR TO SUBMISSION O

29、F PRODUCTION SAMPLES 3.11.2 SERVICE PRIMER NOTE 3.11.2.1 For parts installed with different colors that may be serviced in primer, the following Service Primer note is used on the released drawing FOR COLOR SEE ENGINEERING NOTICE COLOR CODE PRAA DESIGNATES SERVICE PARTS WITH PRIMER ONLY FINISH 3.12

31、hat all newly released Product Engineering drawings include the following Corrosion Protection note under the General Notes section: PART AS RECEIVED AT THE FORD PLANT OR SERVICE PART PACKAGER / WAREHOUSE SHALL BE FREE OF ANY CORROSION ALIGNED WITH THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION (FCSD) PACKAGING

32、 AND SHIPPING GUIDE. CORROSION INHIBITORS OR FOREIGN MATERIALS DETRIMENTAL TO THE INSTALLATION OR FUNCTION OF THE PART MUST BE REMOVABLE BY THE INTENDED CLEANING METHOD 3.13.1.1 For information regarding the Packaging and Shipping Guide mentioned in this note, see the following web link: https:/ 3.1

33、3.2 If this note is to be deleted from the drawing because the part will not be serviced through conventional means, the Global/North American Packaging Department must be contacted to obtain written approval for the deletion. 3.14 CURRENT RELEASE STATUS NOTE 3.14.1 Every Product Engineering drawing

34、 must include the following Current Release Status note under General Notes: FOR CURRENT RELEASE STATUS, SEE THE WERS ENGINEERING NOTICE 3.15 MASTER SOURCE 3.15.1 See the CAD files for a master list of notes used on engineering drawings. 3.16 CONFIDENTIALITY/COPYRIGHT NOTE 3.16.1 The Ford Motor Comp

35、any script trademark on engineering drawings identifies the content contained on the drawing as the intellectual property of Ford Motor Company. Normally, this provides for the confidentiality of those who may use these drawings to develop, for example, other products, design machinery, fixtures, ga

36、ges, process equipment or a manufacturing process. When a design responsible activity believes that the Ford Motor Company script trademark does not provide sufficient protection, as when an engineering drawing contains new technology or new concepts, the design activity may wish to provide for addi

37、tional confidentiality control. 41、ce of the part or may be placed in the general notes. 3.17 SUBSTANCE RESTRICTION NOTE 3.17.1 The following Substance Restriction note, which is provided in the title block, (See Standard A-1), requires all suppliers parts and assemblies to conform to WSS-M99P9999-A1, and Ford Motor Directive F-111. Failure to comply may result in government fines under penalty of law.
