SCOPE: 1.1 This Standard applies primarily to standard size, heavy duty, one- hole mounted, oil-tight push buttons and accessory devices such as selector switches, pilot lights, etc., for mounting as described
2、in Section 2.1.1. 1.2 1 Push buttons and reiated devices, usually other dimensions, shape, etc., are at the option of the manufacturer. 2.1.4 1 I f I 2.1.5 2.2 2.2.1 Unless otherwise specified, the minimum center-to-center mounting distance (both vertical and horizontal) shall not be less than 63.5
3、mm (2.5 in) for standard units, and 38.1 mm (1.5 in) for compact units. The space occupied by a unit shall not exceed that shown in Figure 3. Each approved manufacturer shall make available a double ended socket wrench for tightening the octagon nuts specified in 2.1.3. A hole or slot shall be provi
4、ded to insert a rod, screwdriver, etc., to obtain additional torque. LOCATING MEANS: A locking thrust washer, similar to that shown in Figure 4, shall be furnished with each unit and used for locating the assembly, with or without a legend plate, in a mounting hole as shown in Figure 5. 2.2.2 The ta
5、ng(s) of the locking thrust washer shall engage one or more slots in the threaded body of the unit. 2.2.3 The design and diameter of the locking thrust washer shall prevent scoring the legend plate when tightening the unit. 2.3 LEGEND PLATE: 2.3.1 The legend plate shall be keyed to the unit for posi
6、tioning but shall not be used for locating the unit to the mounting hole, A trim washer shall be furnished for use where a legend plate is not used; assembly shall be as shown in Figure 1. 2.3.2 1 f Legend plate shall consist of dark letters and numbers engraved, cut, etched, or stamped into a light
7、 colored surface. The depth of the characters shall be at least 0.15 mm (0.006 in) below the surface of metal plates; the core material shall show through the cut on laminated materials. 8、ES EA1 Page 3 2.3.3 1 Legend plate dimensions for large automotive and compact units I shall be as shown in Figure 6. 2.3.4 1 I I Letters and numbers shall be at least 3 mm (0.12 in) high. The plate shall accommodate at least two lines of characters with adequate space between lines for clarity. Dat
9、a shall be centered. 2.4 GASKETS: 2.4.1 I I An oil resistant, synthetic material gasket shall be furnished and installed between the unit and the mounting panel as shown in Figure 1. The gasket shall prevent contaminates from entering the enclosure through the mounting hole. 2.4.2 1 I I I The operat
10、ing assembly shall prevent contaminants from entering the enclosure through the operating assembly and from restricting normal movement of the operating assembly. The operating assembly shall comply with ANSI/NEMA 250 for oil tightness. 3. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: 3.1 Metal parts df units shall be non
11、corrosive or otherwise tinned or treated to resist the effects of corrosion and oxidation. 3.2 I All materials comprising the unit shall be self extinguishing per UL 1 Class 94V-0. 4. CONTACT BLOCKS: 4.1 BLOCK DESIGN: 4.1.1 Convertible contact blocks of modular design are preferred which may be indi
12、vidually changed from normally open to normally closed and vice versa. This block may be single or multiple pole, but common terminals are not acceptable. 4.1.2 I I Multiple contact blocks shall have contacts which are usable in circuits of opposite polarity. 4.1.3 Multiple contact block design shal
13、l prevent continuity between normally isolated contacts within the same block, in case of failure of any component of the assembly. 14、to show contact arrangement within the block when the contact is not operated. 4.1.5 1 Contact blocks shall be held to the operator assembly to I withstand a force of 111 N (25 lb) applied in any direction. 4.2 CONTACT DESIGN: 4.2.1 I The contacts shall be designated not less than A300 as outlined i
15、n ANSI/NEMA ICS-2. The contacts shall also be rated as “heavy duty“ and be suitable for controlling inductive loads. 4.2.2 1 All normally closed contacts shall open prior to the closing of any normally open contacts. All normally open contacts shall reopen before any normally closed contacts re-clos
16、e. 4.3 TERMINALS: 4.3.1 1 I I f I I Terminals on standard size units shall accommodate at least two type MTW, 19-stand conductors, AWG 16 through 14. The conductor strands shall be clamped between two non-rotating surfaces. Saddle or pressure plates shall be captive to the terminal screw. Neither th
17、e head nor the point of the terminal screw shall bear directly on the conductor strands. Screws shall not be smaller than number 6-32, and of sufficient length so that at least two threads remain engaged when the clamping assembly is open to receive the largest conductor. Also see 6.1.3. 5. OPERATOR
18、S: 5.1 COLOR CAPS: 5.1.1 I I I Colored caps, inserts, and mushroom buttons shall be of a permanent color throughout the material. Anodizing and similar means of designating color are acceptable for mushroom button 63.5 mm (2.5 in) in diameter and larger. 5.1.2 I I I I Upon insertion of the color cap
19、 or disc to the operator button, it shall become permanently attached. Mushroom heads shall be retained by at least two means; one means shall be an allen set screw. Screws shall not be smaller than number 6-32. The screws shall thread into a metal insert. Brass inserts are preferred. FORD MANUFACTU
20、RING STANDARDS RAl SEPTEMBER 1994 PUSHBUTTONS AND ACCESSORIES EAl Page 5 5.1.3 Standard push buttons and mushroom heads shall be available in black, green, red, and yellow. 5.1.4 Rotary units such as selector switches and potentiometers shall have a permanent indicator made part of the control knob
21、which points to the selected position. The indicator (arrow or line) shall be in a contrasting color to the knob. The knob should be keyed or otherwise located to the operating shaft to prevent erroneous indication of position. 5.1.5 Selector switches shall include a positive detent at each selectab
22、le position to maintain the selected position under machine or equipment vibration during normal operation. 6. PILOT LIGHTS: 6.1 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: 6.1.1 I I I I Pilot lights shall be of the push-to-test type, powered by an individual transformer mounted integrally with the lamp socket, unless oth
23、erwise specified. The nominal secondary voltage shall be six volts or less for use with 6.3 volt lamps. Auto-transformer types are not acceptable. (See Ford Manufacturing Standard RXl, Section 9) 6.1.2 1 I I The lamp shall be a miniature bayonet base style, rated for not less than 5,000 hours contin
24、uous duty at rated lamp voltage. The preferred lamp is a number 755 or equal. 6.1.3 I I I I I I I Terminals on compact pilot lights shall accommodate at least two type MTW, 19-strand conductors, AWG 16 through 14. (Also see 4.3.1) 6.1.4 Where compact pilot lights are group mounted to indicate sequence status, machine or station positions, etc., a single remotely located pushbutton may be used to test all lamps simultaneously. Diode isolation of the primary circuit is not a
27、cceptable. Three terminal units are preferred. The pilot light shall be of a type approved for such applications. F failure of any unit within the life expectancy shall constitute rejection. Approved suppliers shall submit typical test data showing test methods and results. TABLE1 Unit Minimum Life

29、n) peak to peak. The total loading shall not exceed 5.5 Gs for a maximum of one minute. Normally open. contacts shall not close and normally closed contacts shall not open during this test. 8.3.2 1 I Units shall be mounted in a NEMA Type 13 enclosure and subjected to the following tests: 1. The life
30、 test tabulated in Table 1, and described in 8.2.1 above. I 2. The Dry Dust Test - ANSI/NEMA 250 I 3. The Vibration Test described in 8.3.1 above.
