SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a black, air dry, synthetic enamel; formulated to dry at the same general rate as nitrocellulose lacquer. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material us
3、ed for painting automotive chassis and miscellaneous small parts. Exempt solvent material is used when conformance to the legal requirements of air pollution control authorities is mandatory for an assembly plant or other painting facility. 3. REQUIREMENTS (Applicable to ESA-M1J53-A, unless otherwis
4、e specified.) 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 COMPOSITION 3.2.1 Non-Volatile, min 22% (FLTM BI 102-01) 3.2.1.1 Pigment 10% min of non-volatile po
5、rtion, consisting of carbon black and fillers as required. 3.2.1.2 Resin Oil modified alkyd containing 50 - 55% glycerol phthalate. Up to 10% phenolic resin is permitted together with driers and inhibitors as required. 3.2.2 Volatile A mixture of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons to obtain the nec
6、essary spray properties and flash-off time. 7、01-01) The material shall have a 12-cryptometer reading with a 0.002 in (51 m) wedge at a viscosity of 12 - 14 s. 3.4 PANEL PREPARATI0N Spray one coat (0.0004 - 0.0006 in (10 - 15 m) dry film thickness) over clean bare steel panels. Separate panels shall be (1) air dried at 23 +/- 2 C, (2) baked 2 h
8、 at 121 C, and (3) baked 1 h at 205 C. 3.5 APPEARANCE 3.5.1 Color Black 3.5.2 Gloss 50 - 70 (FLTM BI 110-01) 3.5.3 General Production shipments shall be equivalent to approved purchase sample in laboratory and production tests. This includes flow-out, streaking, mottling, gloss and freedom from dirt
9、 and seed. 3.6 FILM PROPERTIES 3.6.1 Dry The material shall dry tack free in 3 - 4 min, and shall be capable of recoat with pyroxylin lacquer without lifting. 3.6.2 Adhesion (FLTM BI 106-01) Shall be satisfactory with no chipping after overnight air dry, 2 h at 121 C or 1 h at 205 C. Test Methods: Hot Oil Test: Spray one c
11、oat of paint over a clean 3 x 8 in (75 x 200 mm) paint panel (0.0004 - 0.0006 in (10 - 15 m) dry film thickness). Air dry 24 h. Place panel in a 600 ml beaker, half filled with M-520 oil. Heat to 65 +/- 3 C for 1 h. Upon removal, the panel shall show no blistering and no more than slight softening o
12、r dulling. Gasoline Test: Spray one coat of paint over a clean 3 x 8 in (75 x 200 mm) paint panel (0.0004 - 0.0006 in (10 15 m) dry film thickness). Air dry 24 h. Place panel in a 600 ml beaker, half filled with Petroleum Naphtha-Aliphatic type at 23 +/- 2 C for 1 h. Upon removal, the panel shall sh
13、ow no blistering and no more than slight softening or dulling. Ethylene Glycol Test: Spray one coat of paint over a clean 3 x 8 in (75 x 200 mm) paint panel (0.0004 - 0.0006 in (10 - 15 m) dry film thickness). Air dry 24 h. Place panel in a 600 ml beaker, half filled with ethylene glycol at 23 +/- 2 C for 1 h. Upon removal, the panel shall show no blistering and no more than slight softening or dulling.
