SCOPE The material defined by this specification is an aluminum forging alloy (AA 6061) with a T6 temper. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used for forged aluminum

3、 wheels. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION The chemical composition of the heat treated forging must conform t

4、o SAE J454 6061. The chemical composition of the forging shall be checked per procedures outlined in ASTM B108 and in accordance with suitable chemical (ASTM Method E34), or spectrochemical (ASTM Method E607, E1251), or other methods. Metal may consist of a blend of both primary and secondary materi

5、als. 3.2 MECHANICAL PROPERTIES, (T6 Temper) (ASTM B557 and E10) 3.2.1 Yield Strength, min 36 ksi (248 MPa) (0.2% Offset) 3.2.2 Tensile Strength, min 40 ksi (276 MPa) 3.2.3 Elongation, min 10% 3.2.4 Brinell Hardness (BHN), min 80 (500 Kg, 10 mm ball) 3.3 HEAT TREATMENT T6 temper (modified to meet req

7、omponent. Forgings shall be evaluated for adverse grain flow run-out at high stress locations. The frequency for these checks shall be agreed upon between the supplier and Ford product engineering. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION 4.1 SUMMARY OF REVISIONS 2009 03 04 Deleted defined wheel chemistry from section 3.1. Replaced with SAE J454, 6061. In section 3.2, added ASTM B557. Added ASTM E10 to section 3.2 Added ASTM E3 to section 3.4
