、, LOW PRESSURE - POWER STEERING ESA-M2D122-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a low burst, low pressure hydraulic hose. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as return lines on hydraulic power steering units fo
、r automotive purposes. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 HOSE CONSTRUCTION Shall have a synthetic rubber inner tube, one or more fa
、bric braids and a smooth synthetic rubber cover. The inner tube shall consist of a non-blooming synthetic rubber compound, capable of effectively resisting deterioration by an approved Ford Motor Company power steering fluid. The reinforcement shall consist of one or more rayon braids which are free
、 from knots. The outer cover shall be of black stock, non-blooming, oil and abrasion resistant, smooth, synthetic rubber compound, of uniform thickness. 3.2 VOLUME SWELL, Inner Tube, max (ASTM D 380) 3.2.1 Immersion in Ford Motor Company 80% Approved Power Steering Fluid (70 h at 121 +/- 3 C) 3.2.2
、Immersion in ASTM No. 3 Oil 110% (70 h at 121 +/- 3 C) 3.3 100% PROOF PRESSURE, min Test Method: Before shipment by the supplier every complete hose assembly shall be given a proof pressure test, using air or water as the pressure medium. Special care should be taken when testing with air due to its
、 explosive nature at high pressures. The pressure shall be held for not less than 30 s or more than 60 s. Hose assemblies showing leaks under this test shall be rejected and destroyed. 3/8 in ID 350 psi (2.4 MPa) 1/2 in ID 350 psi (2.4 MPa) 3/4 in ID 175 psi (1.2 MPa) ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICAT

Each sample of hose must withstand proof pressure for 2
、 min, after which the pressure shall be gradually raised until failure occurs. At least 4 hoses from each lot shall be burst tested and any lot from which a hose fails at less than the minimum specification shall be considered unsatisfactory. 3/8 in ID 1000 psi (6.9 MPa) 1/2 in ID 700 psi (4.8 MPa)
