、NEOPRENE, VACUUM FITTING - MOLDED ESA-M2D183-B 1. SCOPE The material defined in this specification is a vulcanized neoprene elastomer similar to SAE SC515A1BCE1E3F1G, having good resistance to the engine compartment environment and free of any visible wax bloom or other contaminants which may enter
、and harmfully affect the vacuum system. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used in molding vacuum line fittings and connectors. 3. REQUIREMENTS Except where noted, the following tests are to be conducted on the molded parts after complete molding cycle. 3.0 STANDA
、RD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 HARDNESS, DUROMETER “A“ 45 - 55 (ASTM D 2240, ISO 48 OR ASTM D 1415) 3.3 VACUUM COLLAPSE, max 30% Test Method: Plug all ope
、nings except one which is to be attached to a vacuum system capable of maintaining 24 in Hg (81 kPa) for 5 min. The collapse of any unsupported outside diameter of the fitting under above vacuum shall not exceed 30%. 3.4 WAX OR OTHER BLOOM CONTAMINANTS 3.4.1 Waxy Hydrocarbons, by Weight, max 2.0% (A
、STM D 297) 3.4.2 Visual Bloom or Other Contaminants None Test Method: A 1/2 in (13 mm) length (or maximum length available on smaller parts) of the fitting is to be cut, compressed flat and held in the compressed state for 24 +/- 1 h at 23 +/- 2 C. The sample shall then be removed, sectioned longitu
、dinally and examined for visual bloom. Any visual exudation shall be cause for rejection. 3.5 COLD RESISTANCE No fracture, cracks, checks or breaks. Test Method: The fitting shall be subjected to a temperature of -40 C for 5 h after which it shall be flexed in the cold chamber through 90 from the ce
、nterline in each direction. The rate of cycling shall be approximately 1 cycle in 4 s. 9、n length), the following test shall be performed: A 1/2 in (13 mm) long tubular section of the part shall be cut and subjected to a temperature of -40 +/- 2 C for 5 h, after which it shall be compressed 5 times (while still in the cold box) to full closure of the inside diameter. The rate of cycling
、 shall be approximately 1 full compression in 4 s. 3.6 IMMERSION IN ASTM NO. 3 OIL (ASTM D 471, 70 h at 100 +/- 3 C) Hardness, Durometer Change -30 to 0 Volume Change, max +120% 3.7 TEAR RESISTANCE Must not tear Test Method: The fitting nipple (in multiple size fittings, the smallest and largest sha
、ll be tested) shall be expanded to a minimum internal diameter of 2 times the nominal inside diameter by forcing the nipple over a 30 tapered, clean, lubricated (silicon parting agent) metal cone that has a maximum surface finish of RMS 20. 3.8 HEAT AGED (ASTM D 573, 70 h at 100 +/- 3 C) Hardness, D
、urometer Change, max +15 Tear Resistance Must not tear (Test per para 3.7) Ozone Rating ESB-M9P1-A (Test per para 3.11) 3.9 STRESS RELAXATION A 3/4 in (19.1 mm) length of one nipple shall be expanded to 2 times the nominal inside diameter by inserting a steel mandrel lubricated with talc for a lengt
、h of 3/4* +/- 1/8 in (19.1 +/- 3.2 mm). The expanded assembly shall be heat aged at 100 +/- 3 C for 72 h and then cooled to 23 +/- 2 C, for 1 h. Upon removal of the steel mandrel, the tubing I.D. shall return to less than 1.65 times the original inside diameter. *For parts less than 1 in (25 mm) lon
、g, expand for 1/2 of part length. 3.10 TENSION SET, max 65% Test Method: ASTM D 412, straight specimen, 22 h with 70% elongation at -10 +/- 0.5 C. Measure 10 min after release. 3.11 OZONE RATING ESB-M9P1-A Test Method: The “as received“ part having 1 in (25 mm) min length, shall have one nipple expa
、nded to a minimum internal diameter of twice the nominal inside diameter for a length of 3/4* +/- 1/8 in (19.1 +/- 3.2 mm) by forcing the end of one fitting over the appropriate size metal mandrel lubricated with talc. The expanded outside surface of the fitting shall be wiped with a cotton gauze we
、tted with naptha to remove any wax or other foreign material which may affect the ozone test. The clean expanded tubing shall then be tested per FLTM BP 101-01. 17、or parts less than 1 in (25 mm) long, expand for 1/2 of part length. 3.12 TOLERANCES RMA-A3-F3 - T.032 unless otherwise specified on part drawing. 3.13 QUALITY CONFORMANCE 3.13.1 Production Shipment Molded parts from each lot (a lot is all the parts produced in an average production day not to excee
、d an 8 h production period on each line producing Ford parts) shall be tested and certified by the supplier to the requirements of paras 3.2, 3.4.2, 3.7. Paras 3.10 and 3.11 shall be checked every fifth lot or at least once weekly during the manufacture of Ford parts. 3.13.2 Periodic Qualification Tests Every 3 months each supplier is required to perform complete qualification testing on a part supplied to Ford Motor Company. The testing may be performed either by a Ford or supplier laboratory and records retained for review by the Ford quality control activity.
