2、2 RUST PREVENTIVE - BRAKE CYLINDER COMPONENTS ESA-M7C55-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a rust preventive which provides temporary corrosion protection for unplated steel parts. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for mater

3、ial for use on parts to be assembled within the fluid containing portion of a brake system component. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A).

4、 3.1 APPEARANCE Brown liquid 3.2 ODOR Mild solvent 3.3 SPECIFIC GRAVITY 0.790 - 0.800 (ASTM D 891) 3.4 DENSITY 0.79 +/- 0.02 kg/l (ASTM D 891) 3.5 FLASH POINT, min 51 C (ASTM D 92) 3.6 CORROSION TEST No rust or deterioration Test Method: Coat unpolished panels by dipping, one pass. Expose panels to

5、humidity chamber at 98% +/- 2% relative humidity and 38 C +/- 1 C for 24 hours. The film shall not become permanently sticky, slimy, etc. 3.7 EFFECT ON RUBBER (ASTM D 471) Volume Change Difference on EPDM +/- 3.0% (RM 69 slab stock) Volume Change Difference on CBR (RMA -3a cups) +/- 2.0% Test Method

6、: Using ESA-M6C25-A brake fluid, prepare two brake fluid samples, one of 100 ml ESA-M6C25-A and the second of 100 ml ESA-M6C25-A plus 2 ml of rust preventative. To each sample of fluid add approximately 10 grams of elastomer to be evaluated. Determine the difference, by method of displacement, in vo

7、lume change after 70 hours at 120 C +/- 3 C.
