、ENTS, DRYBACK WEATHERSTRIP ADHESIVE ESB-M11P9-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the performance requirements for a dryback adhesive applied to closed cell sponge rubber weatherstrip. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used where m
、aximum adhesion is required between the closed cell sponge rubber weatherstrip and enameled metal. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.

Allow samples to air
、dry for 4 h at 23 +/- 2 C and 52 +/- 5% R.H. Age assemblies for 2 weeks in a mechanical convection oven at 70 +/- 1 C. Cool to 23 +/- 2 C for 1 h. Pull samples to destruction per 3.1.1, step 5. 3.2 SOFTENING POINT, min 77 C (ASTM D 816, except prepare sample as outlined in para 3.1.1 using a 1 in2 (
、645 mm2) bonded area and 3 min open time.) 3.3 BLOCKING Coated sponge weatherstrips shall not develop adhesion to themselves great enough to cause lifting of the adhesive film or tearing of the sponge after exposure to 38 +/- 1 C for 48 h. Test Method: Place the coated surfaces of two, 6 in (150 mm)
、 lengths of weatherstrip in intimate contact with each other, securing with a wrap of kraft paper or masking tape. Expose to a temperature of 38 +/- 1 C for 48 h. Cool to 23 +/- 2 C, remove wrapping and hand separate the weatherstrips. 3.4 APPLICATION The applied coating shall be smooth and uniform with no skips or other film defects detrimental to normal production operation.
