3、ined by these specifications is made of glass fibers, bonded with a thermosetting resin and compressed into a flexible blanket. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally for material used as an engine compartment heat and sound absorber. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requ
4、irements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 DENSITY, +/- 15% (ASTM C 167, except base calcula
5、tions on nominal thickness as specified on engineering drawings) ESB-M12G64-A 1-1/2 lb/ft3 (24 kg/m3) ESB-M12G65-A/ B 2-1/2 lb/ft3 (40 kg/m3) 3.3 CONSTRUCTION 3.3.1 Fiber Diameter 0.00028 - 0.00056 in (0.0071 - 0.0142 mm) Test Method: Measure the diameter of 10 fibers using a calibrated microscope o
6、r other suitable means and report the average value. 3.3.2 Binder Content 30 +/- 5% phenol formaldehyde Test Method: Cut 1-2 g of sample into a previously ignited porcelain crucible. Condition at 102 +/- 3 C for 3 h. Record weight. Heat in a muffle furnace at 538 +/- 28 C until binder is burned off.
7、 Cool, weigh and calculate % binder on basis of conditioned weight (step #2). 9、ng manner of testing may be employed. Prepare samples per ASTM D 1682. Prepare a set of clamps, or holding devices, having the same width as the sample tested. A top clamp should be made to facilitate “pick-up“ and holding by the operator. A bottom clamp should be made with an attached hook on the b
10、ottom, or some means for adding and suspending required weights for test. The bottom clamp weight should be known so that the total accumulative suspended weight may be determined. Carefully clamp sample in holding devices. Add the required weight to the bottom clamp, then gently pick up the top cla
11、mp to allow a tensile pull on the sample. This may be repeated with additional weights to determine minimum breaking strength. 3.5 COMPRESSION AND RECOVERY 3.5.1 ESB-M12G64-A Compression, max 10% Recovery, min 95% 3.5.2 ESB-M12G65-A/ B Compression, max 5% Recovery, min 95% Test Method: Cut five 12 x
12、 12 in (305 x 305 mm) samples. (Thickness as specified on engineering drawings.) Apply a 12 x 12 in (305 x 305 mm) masonite board weighing 1/2 lb (0.23 kg) to the five plied samples. Measure the height of the pile, at the center of the vertical sides. (The average of these readings is the initial th
13、ickness of the pile (T1). Measure again for average thickness of the pile (T3). % Recovery = T3 x 100 _ T1 3.6 MOISTURE RESISTANCE Shall not disintegrate, delaminate, nor sustain mold growth. Test Method: Suspend a 12 x 12 x 1 in (305 x 305 x 25
15、mm) sample in a relative humidity cabinet at 38 +/- 1 C and 95 - 100% R.H. for 7 days. 3.7 AIR FLOW RESISTANCE No evidence of fiber separation nor delamination of the skin effect side. Test Method: Direct a blast of air at 45 to the center portion of a representative 1 ft2 (930 cm2) sample. Test in
16、one direction, then test at 45 in a direction opposed 90 to the first test. Height and Angle of Gun: Vertical height of gun tip shall be 3 in (76 mm) from mat surface and gun shall be held at an angle of 45. Equipment: Use a DeVilbiss JGA Type 502 spray gun with an AV-15FF Fluid Tip, JGA 402FF Needl

19、dard No. 302, the materials, portions of components, and composites shall not burn, or transmit a flame across its surface, at a rate of more than 4 in (101 mm) per min. To demonstrate compliance, the sample size and method of testing shall be in accordance with FLTM BN 024-02. 3.10.2 Performance -
20、Environmental Aging All materials, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have not been treated, modified or reformulated and exceed a max burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per min as specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 024-02, must be evaluated fo
21、r permanency of the materials flame retardant properties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the accelerated environmental aging requirements applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. Any material, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that h
22、ave been treated, modified or reformulated to conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 024-02, regardless of max burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanency of materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical, chemical and physical properties per ESB-M25P3-A applicable to the basic materials category of this particular specification. 3.10.3 Flammability Test Program Materials, portions of components, and composites governed by this specification must also comply with the requirements of ES-D3AB-11014-AA.
