、3 BATT, THERMAL INSULATION, MINERAL FIBER, NEEDLED ESB-M12G70-A2 NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a soft, flexible sound and thermal insulation batt composed of mineral fibers suitable for high temperature insulation up to 1260 C in non-load bearin

、g areas. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as a floor pan heat insulator under the seat and over the catalytic converter of the 1975 Granada and Monarch where the floor covering is not subject to load deflection. This material has poor resistance to flexing

、and must not be used in load bearing areas. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Produ

、ction Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 CONSTRUCTION This insulation batt is composed of mineral fibers needled and heat set without resins to provide a uniform insulating surface. 3.3 COMPOSITION Mineral Fibers (Alumina and Silica) 99% by weight Test Method: Cut 10 g of sample into a previously ignit

、ed and weighed porcelain crucible. Condition at 102 +/- 3 C for 3 h. Record the weight. Heat in muffle furnace at 816 +/- 28 C for 4 h. Cool, weigh and calculate % mineral fiber on basis of retained weight. 3.4 DENSITY, + 20%, - 10% 5.0 lb/ft3 (80 kg/m3) (ASTM C 167 except compute thickness from 12

、ORMANCE, ENVIRONMENTAL AGING REQUIREMENT All materials, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have not been treated, modified or reformulated and exceed a maximum burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per minute as specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN

、024-02, must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardant properties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the accelerated environmental aging requirements applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. Any material, portions of components, and composites defined

、by this specification that have been treated, modified or reformulated to conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 024-02, regardless of maximum burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanency of materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical, chemical and physical prope
