SCOPE The material defined by these specifications is a molded, resin bonded fiber batt of uniform construction. 2. APPLICATION The ESB-M17H144-A specification was released originally

3、 for material used as a molded 1976 Ford headliner foundation, where a heavily resinated, light weight, semi-rigid pad is required. The ESB-M17H144-B was released originally for the 1977-1/2 Lincoln Versailles deck lid trim panel. 3. REQUIREMENT Material specification requirements are to be used for

4、 initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS In addition to the requirements listed herein, form

5、ed trim assemblies employing ESB-M17H144-A and ESB-M17H144-B, must also meet all engineering requirements of ESB-M15P1-B or ESB-M15P4-B, as appropriate. 3.3 CONSTRUCTION Shall consist of a mixture of cotton, synthetic and glass fiber garnetted in a random order, firmly bonded with a resin sizing. 3.

6、4 COMPOSITION (ASTM D 629) Glass fibers 30 +/- 5% Natural & synthetic fibers 40 +/- 10% Phenolformaldehyde bonding resin 30 +/- 5% 3.5 DENSITY 5 +/- 1 lb/ft3(ASTM C 167) (80 +/- 16 kg/m3) Use thickness as measured in para 3.6. 11、age 3 of 3 3.14 ESB-M17H144-A FLAMMABILITY REQUIREMENT 3.14.1 Flammability In order to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302, the materials, portions of components, and composites shall not burn, or transmit a flame across its surface, at a rate of more than 4 in (101 mm) per min

To demonstrate compliance, the sample size and method of testing shall be in accordance with FLTM BN 024-02. 3.14.2 Performance - Environmental Aging All materials, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have not been treated, modified or reformulated and exceed

13、a max burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per min as specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 024-02, must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardant properties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the accelerated environmental aging requirements applicable to the basic material

14、category of this particular specification. Any material, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have been treated, modified or reformulated to conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 024-02, regardless of max burn rate, must be evaluated for both perma

15、nency of materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical, chemical and physical properties per ESB-M25P3-A applicable to the basic materials category of this particular specification. 3.14.3 Flammability Test Program Materials, portions of components, and composites governed by this s

16、pecification must also comply with the requirements of ES-D3AB-11014-AA. 3.15 ESB-M17H144-B FLAMMABILITY REQUIREMENT The burning rate shall be 4 in (101 mm)/min maximum, when tested per FLTM BN 024-02 without the lot sampling plan procedure. In addition, the test specimen shall not exhibit any flashing or sudden flaming on either surface in excess of the above maximum value.
