2、CE ESB-M18P4-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the performance requirements for the two component repair kit for fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP). 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used in service to repair damaged FRP body
3、components and/or quarter panels for trucks and passenger vehicles such as the FRP Louisville “L“ series truck tilt front end. 3. REQUIREMENTS All tests are to be conducted on damaged 12 x 12 in (300 x 300 mm) fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) test panels that have been repaired and painted in a
4、ccordance with Body Service Engineering Technical Letter BSE9-139 (8-12-69) with the repaired area located near the center of the panel. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Material
5、s (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 WEATHERING RESISTANCE The repaired test area shall exhibit no change in color or fading as compared to adjacent nonrepaired areas when exposed as follows: 400 h weatherometer exposure per FLTM BO 101-01. 12 months minimum exposure at 5 facing south in the Miami, Florida area.

In the event of differences in the test results of accelerated weathering and Florida exposure, the results of the Florida exposure shall govern. 3.2 WATER IMMERSION, min 240 h (FLTM BI 104-01) No blistering or loss of gloss. 3.3 COLD

8、 Page 2 of 3 Test Method Subject the panels to 10 cycles of the following: 4 h at -29 +/- 1C 4 h at 88 +/- 1C 16 h at 38 +/- 1C and 95 - 100% R.H. Cool the panels to -29 +/- 1C for 4 h minimum. Insert a panel in the slamming fixture temperature conditioned at -29 +/- 1C. Drop the panel from the hori
9、zontal position 10 times in rapid succession. Allow it to warm up to 23 +/- 2 C for a minimum of 3 h. Repeat test for a total of 6 cycles. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 VISCOSITY
10、5.1.1 Resin 40 - 60 s (FLTM BV 103-01, using 0.052 in (1.32 mm) orifice and 20 psi (138 kPa) air pressure) 5.1.2 Accelerator 80 - 120 s (FLTM BI 111-01, using #4 Ford Cup) 5.2 WEIGHT/VOLUME (ASTM D 816) The weight tolerance for any one supplier shall be +/- 0.2 lb/gal (0.02 kg/L), based on the recor
11、ded weight of his original approved sample. Materials conforming to this specification range as follows: 5.2.1 Resin 8.5 - 10.5 lb/gal (1.02 - 1.26 kg/L) 5.2.2 Accelerator 7.5 - 9.5 lb/gal (0.90 - 1.14 kg/L) 5.3 POT LIFE (Mixed) 10 - 15 min 5.4 PRECAUTIONS 5.4.1 Irritation Skin irritation due to exp
12、osure to resins and/or dust may be encountered in some cases. Instruct personnel using this material to thoroughly wash hands with soap and water. 5.4.2 Toxicity It is recommended that this material be used in a well ventilated area as toxic fumes may result from using resin mixtures.
