SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a molding construction composed of

3、a metallized polyester film laminated between a clear vinyl surface film and an extruded vinyl base. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used as a decorative molding for door trim panels. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material s

4、uppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 APPEARANCE (FLTM BI 109-01) The color, pattern, and finish shall match the approved Design Center master sample, or shall be as specified on the engineering drawing. 3.3 COMP

5、ONENT The following requirements are provided as a guide to manufacturers of the finished welt. 3.3.1 Surface Vinyl Film The clear embossed vinyl film (0.010 in (0.25 mm) minimum, unless otherwise specified on the engineering drawing laminated over the surface of the coated metallized polyester film

6、 and part of the flange area, shall be of 85 +/- 5 durometer, ESB-M1G6 quality properly stabilized to meet the heat and ultraviolet requirements as specified for the welt assembly in this specification. 7、obal Technologies, Inc. 3.3.1.1 Adhesion (FLTM BN 113-01) The vinyl surface films adhesion to the metallized polyester film shall exceed that of the metallized polyester film to the vinyl base and shall not separate without tearing in the vinyl to vinyl bond areas when tested for bond strength. 3.3.

8、2 Metallized Polyester Film and Vinyl Laminate 3.3.2.1 Construction The laminate shall consist of a 0.00025 - 0.00055 in (0.0064 - 0.0140 mm) metallized polyester film adhered to a 0.008 +/- 0.002 in (0.20 +/- 0.05 mm) neutral colored vinyl film with a suitable adhesive. 3.3.2.2 Adhesion (Polyester

9、film to vinyl), min (FLTM BN 113-01) Original 2.5 lb/in (440 N/m) width Aged 2.5 lb/in (440 N/m) width 3.3.3 Vinyl Base Shall meet the physical properties requirement of ESB-M1G6 for the durometer as specified on the engineering drawing. 3.4 ASSEMBLY AND BONDING These requirements are provided for q

10、uality control testing of the molding on a finished assembly. The criterion for material acceptability shall be the assemblys job performance. This means that the materials composition and formulation must form a satisfactory bond with the remaining approved components in the assembly and when bonde

11、d under approved production conditions. 3.4.1 Components None of the moldings components shall separate without tearing before or after the aging test as outlined in FLTM BN 113-01. Also, the welt shall show no evidence of delamination of its components after any of the tests specified for the finis

12、hed molding. 13、gth requirements. Original 32 oz (8.9 N) After cycling 24 oz (6.7 N) After H20, 24 h 24 oz (6.7 N) 3.5 RESISTANCE TO ELEVATED TEMPERATURES (FLTM BN 113-02) Moldings bonded to door panel or other trim cover materials as outlined in FLTM BN 113-01, shall exhibit no evidence of peeling, wrinkling or de

14、lamination and shall exhibit no extreme loss of embossing or excessive dimensional change after exposure to elevated temperatures. 3.5.1 Aging The molding shall show no tackiness or delaminations, exhibit color tone change or change in hue, in accordance with rating 4 to 5 of the AATCC Chart for mea

15、suring transference of color after exposure in an air circulating oven maintained at 102 +/- 3 C for 7 days. Production materials shall exhibit light fastness and other qualities equal to or better than the master sample (as approved for production by the Textile Engineering Section, BEPE Materials

16、Engineering Department) on file in the Textile Engineering Section. 3.5.2 Flex Bend None of the moldings components shall exhibit more evidence of delamination, wrinkling, or loss of gloss than the master sample (as approved for production by the Textile Engineering Section, BEPE Materials Engineeri

17、ng Department) on file in the Textile Engineering Section, after testing as outlined below. Test Method: Condition three 10 in (254 mm) long molding specimens for a minimum period of 1 h in an air circulating oven maintained at 82 +/- 3 C. Bend each specimen (inside the oven) 180 over a 1/2 in (13 m

18、m) mandrel (alternately surface up then down) for a total of 10 bends. 3.5.3 Dimensional Stability (Heat shrinkage), max 2.5 % Test Method: Expose three 10 in (250 mm) long molding specimens in an air circulating oven maintained at 82 +/- 3 C for 7 days. Remove the test specimens from the oven and a

19、llow them to cool to 23 +/- 2 C, then remeasure and calculate and report the average percent shrinkage. 20、ter washer and the wing nuts to mount 3 specimens directly to the top and bottom studs of the “W“ flex tester when the studs are at the maximum separation point. Flex the specimens under standard conditions for the number of cycles specified. Then remove the samples and examine visually when bending

21、 90 in both directions at the center high flex areas. Modifications may be made in the holding fixture provided the distance between the clamps is unchanged.) Moldings employed in high flex areas (seating applications) shall show no evidence of cracking or delamination of any component after 20,000

22、“W“ flex cycles. 3.7 ELEVATED TEMPERATURE “W“ FLEX Molding employed in high flex areas (seating applications), exposed for 7 days at 102 +/- 3 C shall show no evidence of cracking or delamination of any component after 15,000 “W“ flex cycles as outlined in para. 3.6. 3.8 RESISTANCE TO ARTIFICIAL WEA

23、THERING 3.8.1 Appearance (FLTM BN 1-1) No tackiness, or exhibit color tone change or change in hue, in accordance with rating 4 to 5 of the AATCC Chart for measuring transference of color after a 500 h exposure. Production materials shall exhibit light fastness qualities equal to or better than the

24、master sample (as approved for production by the Textile Engineering Section, BEPE Materials Engineering Department) on file in the Textile Engineering Section. 3.8.2 Weatherometer Aged “W“ Flex Moldings employed in high flex areas (seating applications), exposed as outlined in para. 3.8.1, shall sh

25、ow no evidence of cracking or delamination of any component after 5,000 “W“ flex cycles. 3.8.3 Weatherometer Aged Bend Test Moldings not subject to flex in service (door panels) shall show no evidence of cracking or delamination of any component when bent 180 over a 1/2 in (13 mm) mandrel after expo

26、sure as outlined in para. 3.8.1. 3.9 ESB-M1G110-A FLAMMABILITY, max 4 in (101 mm)/min (FLTM BN 24-2, without the lot sampling plan) In addition, the test specimen shall not exhibit any flashing or sudden flaming on either surface in excess of the above maximum value. 27、ON ESB-M1G110-A ESB- M1G110-B Page 5 of 6 Copyright 2003, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 3.10 ESB-M1G110-B FLAMMABILITY 3.10.1 In order to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302, the materials, portions of components, and composites shall not burn, or transmit a flame across its s

28、urface, at a rate of more than 4 in (101 mm) per minute. To demonstrate compliance, the sample size and method of testing shall be in accordance with FLTM BN 24-2. 3.10.2 Performance - Environmental Aging All materials, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have n

29、ot been treated, modified or reformulated and exceed a maximum burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per minute as specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2, must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardant properties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the accelerated environm

30、ental aging requirements applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. Any material, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have been treated, modified or reformulated to conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2, regar

31、dless of maximum burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanency of materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical, chemical and physical properties per ESB-M25P3-A applicable to the basic materials category of this particular specification. 3.10.3 Flammability Test Program Material

32、s, portions of components, and composites governed by this specification must also comply with the requirements of ES-D3AB-11014-AA. 3.11 RESISTANCE TO WEAR, min (FLTM BN 108-01, procedure for textiles, 1,600 cycles) No wear through of the clear vinyl surface film. 3.12 RESISTANCE TO H2S STAINING No

33、 discoloration (FLTM AN 102-01) 3.13 RESISTANCE TO DETERIORATION AND MIGRATION STAINING AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES (FLTM BN 103-01) No evidence of injurious exudation, adhesion (tackiness), separation or color transfer when placed face to face with other trim materials which the molding will contact i

35、 BN 1-1, 120 SFH) Shall not stain, exhibit color tone change or change in hue, in accordance with rating 5 of the AATCC Chart for measuring transference of color. Production materials shall exhibit light fastness qualities equal to or better than the master sample (as approved for production by the

36、Textile Engineering Section, BEPE Materials Engineering Department) on file in the Textile Engineering Section. 3.16 COLD FLEX (FLTM BN 102-01) No evidence of cracking, crazing or delamination of the molding components after bending the welt 180 over a 1 in (25 mm) mandrel at -34 C. 3.17 MARKING All materials supplied to this specification shall be identified as to the source and the month of manufacturing by the use of an indelible, nonstaining ink applied within 20 in (510 mm) intervals on the back.
