SCOPE The material defined by this specification is an extruded or strip cut vinyl plastic binding of good quality and uniform composition. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for
3、material used to trim the edges of cardboard sunvisors, for convertible dust boot edge trim, or for similar applications where cut edges must be concealed. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCT
4、ION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). specified. 3.3 APPEARANCE (FLTM BI 109-1) The color, pattern, and finish shall match the approved Design Center master sample, or shall be as specified on
5、 the engineering drawing. 3.4 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES, MOLDED SLABS The properties of molded slabs, made from production stocks or from the finished binding shall conform to the following requirements for the durometer as specified on the engineering drawings. 7、t 2002, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 3.4 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES, PRODUCTION BINDINGS When tests are conducted on (as received) production binding, the following deviations from the minimum values as specified in para. 3.3 will be allowed (due to the affect of surface grain or embossing). Durometer Ha
8、rdness - 7.5 % Tensile Strength - 20 % Elongation - 50 % In cases of dispute over test results, obtained on embossed production materials, the supplier shall provide slab stock specimens of the same formulation for testing. 3.5 SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS The finished binding shall conform to the informati
9、on contained on engineering drawings and releases as to special requirements for a specific design. 3.6 RESISTANCE TO FADE (Interior Application) (SAE J 1885) The vinyl shall not stain, exhibit color tone change or change in hue, in accordance with rating 5 of the AATCC Chart for measuring transfere
10、nce of color after 120 SFH exposure. Production materials shall exhibit light fastness qualities equal to or better than the master sample (as approved for production by the Textile Engineering Section, BEPE Materials Engineering Department) on file in the Textile Engineering Section. 3.8 RESISTANCE
11、 TO ARTIFICIAL WEATHERING (Exterior Applications Only) (FLTM BO 101-01) Shall not stain, exhibit color tone change or change in hue, in accordance with rating 5 of the AATCC Chart for measuring transference of color after 500 h of exposure. Production materials shall exhibit light fastness qualities
12、 equal to or better than the master sample (as approved for production by the Textile Engineering Section, BEPE Materials Engineering Department) on file in the Textile Engineering Section. 3.9 FLAMMABILITY, max 4 in (101 mm)/min (FLTM BN 24-2, without the lot sampling plan) In addition, the test sp
13、ecimen shall not exhibit any flashing or sudden flaming on either surface in excess of the above maximum value. 14、obal Technologies, Inc. 3.9.1 Performance - Environmental Aging All materials, portions of components, and composites defined by this specification that have not been treated, modified or reformulated and exceed a maximum burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per minute as specified by the Flammability Lot Sa
15、mpling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2, must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardant properties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the accelerated environmental aging requirements applicable to the basic material category of this particular specification. Any material, portions of components, an
16、d composites defined by this specification that have been treated, modified or reformulated to conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2, regardless of maximum burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanency of materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical, chemical
17、 and physical properties per ESB-M25P3-A applicable to the basic materials category of this particular specification. 3.9.2 Flammability Test Program Materials, portions of components, and composites governed by this specification must also comply with the requirements of ES-D3AB-11014-AA. 3.10 COLD
18、 FLEXIBILITY (FLTM BN 102-01, except use a mandrel 8 times the material thickness) Bindings subjected to flexing in service shall withstand a 180 bend at -34 C without fracture. Bindings not subject to flexing in service shall withstand a 180 bend at -29 C without fracture. 3.11 RESISTANCE TO H2S ST
19、AINING No discoloration (FLTM AN 102-01) 3.12 CONTACT MIGRATION STAINING When a section of the binding is placed in direct contact with the material normally contacted in service (cardboard, leather, vinyl, etc.) and is exposed for 48 h, as outlined in SAE J 1885, it shall exhibit no greater stainin
20、g or softening of the contact materials than that exhibited by the master sample (as approved for production by the Textile Engineering Section, BEPE Materials Engineering Department) on file in the Textile Engineering Section. 21、, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 3.13 RESISTANCE TO ABRASION (FLTM BN 108-01, procedure for welts) The color and pattern in the wear area shall be compatible in appearance with the adjacent unabraded areas. The resistance to abrasion of production material shall be equal to or better than that exhib
22、ited by the master sample (as approved for production by the Textile Engineering Section, BEPE Materials Engineering Department) on file in the Textile Engineering Section, when tested as outlined below: Test Method “A“: Coated high metallic bindings or solid colored bindings (used for low wear area
23、 applications, i.e. sunvisors), 1,000 cycles, #10 duck. Test Method “B“: Extruded high metallic or solid colored bindings (used in high wear applications), 1,000 cycles, #0 grit abradant. Note: The color of the base vinyl shall be compatible with the metallic surface and shall in no instance be of a lighter color than the metallic surface. 3.14 CROCKING (FLTM BN 107-01) Shall correspond to rating 5 when compared to the AATCC Chart for measuring transference of color.
