SCOPE The material defined by this specification is an air dry enamel specifically formulated to provide good adhesion to the specified substrate. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released
3、originally for material used on the reflective surface of lamp bodies and related parts. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 COMPOSIT
4、ION The material shall be composed of a blend of resins, pigments, and solvent properly balanced to produce the color, gloss, and durability required by this specification. 3.2.1 Toxicity The enamels shall contain no benzene, chlorinated solvents, hydrolyzable chlorine derivatives or other toxic com
5、pounds, nor shall it have an obnoxious or objectionable odor. 3.3 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.3.1 Non-Volatiles, min 22% (FLTM BI 102-01) 3.3.2 Hiding Power, wet (FLTM BI 101-01, at a viscosity of 17 - 21 s) All metallic colors, 0.007 in (0.18 mm) 14 wedge, max Black, 0.002 in (0.05 mm) wedge, max 14 Red

7、 to Spray 17 - 21 s Unreduced 28 - 40 s 3.3.4 Stability Shall not jell or liver upon standing. Test Method: Place a sealed 3/4 full, pt (0.5 l) can in an oven for 16 h at 60 +/- 1 C. An appreciable increase in viscosity (approximately 15 s) shall indicate non-stability. 3.4 PREPARATION OF TEST PANEL
8、S (FLTM BI 103-02, Method “E“) 3.4.1 Substrate Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene plastic panels (or parts) of any convenient size. 3.4.2 Enamel If necessary, reduce enamel to suitable spraying viscosity using solvent recommended by the vendor, and apply the required film thickness, as specified in par
9、agraph 3.5. 3.4.3 Curing Material shall air dry to a tack-free condition in 15 min and shall fully cure in 24 h. 3.4.4 Aging Age the panels for 16 h at 43 +/- 3 C for 72 h at 22 +/- 3 C before testing. 3.5 APPEARANCE 3.5.1 Color (FLTM BI 109-01) Color shall match Ford Motor Company master panel. No greater loss of gloss
13、is permitted than equivalent approved production colors. This specimen may be a current production part, or a test panel. In all cases the specimen under test shall be equivalent to current production materials and processing. Specimens shall be completely free from evidence of cracking, checking, b
