2、ADHESIVE, SILICONE RUBBER - ROOM TEMPERATURE CURE ESB-M2G139-B 1. SCOPEThe material defined by this specification is a one component air curing silicone rubber basedadhesive.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released originally for material used to bond exterior rear view mirrorassemblies. It can

3、 be applied to plate glass, enameled metal, stainless steel, chrome, anodizedaluminum and acrylonitrile - butadiene - styrene (ABS) plastic substrates. To develop optimumadhesion to all the above surfaces, this material should be used in conjunction with ESB-M2G138-B primer on substrates recommended

4、 by material supplier as specified in para 4.1.3. REQUIREMENTS3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 UNCURED ADHESIVE PROPERTIES 3.2.1 Color Black unles

5、s otherwise specified on engineering drawing. 3.2.2 Solids, min 93 % (ASTM D 2834, except heat for 3 h at 102 +/- 3 C in a mechanical convection oven) 3.2.3 Weight per Volume (ASTM D 816) The weight tolerance for any one supplier shall be +/- 0.2 lb/gal (0.024 kg/L) based on the recorded weight of h

7、2002, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 3.2.5 Quality Shall be a smooth, homogeneous mixture, free from foreign materials and properties detrimental to normal production application. 3.2.6 Cure Rate, max 24 h Test Method: Apply a 1/8 in (3.2 mm) diameter x 6 in (150 mm) bead of material to a strip of a

8、luminum foil. The material shall be completely cured in 24 h. Save sample for Low Temperature Flexibility Tests, para 3.3.2. 3.2.7 Non-Interchangeability of Materials Only approved silicone adhesive ESB-M2G139-B and adhesion primer ESB-M2G138-B all from the same production source shall be used in co

9、njunction with one another. 3.3 CURED ADHESIVE PROPERTIES 3.3.1 Hardness, Durometer “A“ 20 - 40 (ASTM D 2240, 1/4 in (6.4 mm) thickness, condition for 72 h at 23 +/- 2 C prior to test) 3.3.2 Low Temperature Resistance No cracking Test Method: Expose the sample, prepared in Cure Rate Test, (para 3.2.

10、6), to -29 +/- 3 C for 4 h. Bend the conditioned material around a 1/8 in (3.2 mm) mandrel at the same temperature. 3.3.3 Shear Adhesion, min 3.3.3.1 Normal Air Cure Period: 24 h 30 psi (207 kPa) 72 h 50 psi (345 kPa)7 day 100 psi (690 kPa) Test Method: Apply sufficient material to 1/4 x 1 x 4 in (6

11、.4 x 25 x 100 mm) glass plates to provide a bond area of 0.5 in2 (323 mm2) x 0.10 in (2.5 mm) thickness when mated with 1 x 3 in (25 x 75 mm) enamel steel panels. Allow assemblies to air cure at room temperature for the period listed above. Pull the bonded assemblies in a testing machine having a ja

12、w separation rate of 1 in (25 mm)/min. Conduct all tests in triplicate. 14、29 +/- 2 C Test Method: Apply sufficient material to 1/4 x 1 x 4 in (6.4x 25 x 100 mm) glass plates to provide a bond area of 0.5 in2(323 mm2) x 0.10 in (2.5 mm) thickness when mated with 1 x 3 in (25 x 75 mm) panels of each substrate listed in para 4.2. Prime the substrates recommended in para 4.1.

15、 Age test assemblies for 7 days prior to environmental exposures. After exposure, pull bonded assemblies in a testing machine having a jaw separation rate of 1 in (25 mm)/min. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 4.1 RELATED MATERIALS 4.1.1 Substrate Primer ESB-M2G138-B G.E. 18、3-A 4.2.6 Enameled Metal ESB-M50J100 enamel topcoat 4.3 STORAGE STABILITY Shall be stored at ambient room temperatures below 32 C. When stored in the original unopened container, the material shall have a 12 month shelf life from date of shipment. Containers should always be kept sealed when not in use. 4.4 WEIGHT PER VOLUME Material conforming to this specification range from 8.0 - 9.1 lb/gal (0.96 - 1.09 kg/L).
