、 Inc. ADHESION PRIMER, FOR URETHANE STRUCTURAL ESB-M2G197-A ADHESIVE - (METAL TO FRP) 1. SCOPEThe material defined by this specification is a modified synthetic polymer, solvent release primerthat must be heat cured prior to adhesive application.2. APPLICATIONThis specification was released original
、ly as a material used for priming clean cold rolled steelreinforcements prior to bonding the reinforcements to FRP using ESB-M2G189 UrethaneStructural Adhesive.3. REQUIREMENTS3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standar
、d Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 COLOR Black 3.2 VISCOSITY at 23 +/- 2 C 20-50 cP (mPa.s) (ASTM D 2556, Brookfield Model RVT No. 1 Spindle at 50 RPM) 3.3 SOLIDS 13 -2 %(ASTM D 2046, except heat at 121 +/- 3C for 3 h in a mechanical convection oven) 3.4 DRYING TIME at 23

The primer may be applied by either brushing, spraying or wipin
、g of clean metal surfaces. The primer shall be heat cured at one of the following temperatures prior to adhesive application: . 30 minutes at 150 C . 20 minutes at 175 C . 10 minutes at 205 C 3.6 STORAGE STABILITY The material shall be stored at temperatures below 38 C away from all sources of heat
、and sunlight. Heat greatly accelerates aging. Under these storage conditions, the minimum shelf life of the material shall be 3 months. When these materials are stored at temperatures below 23 C, they shall be protected from freezing and conditioned at room temperature prior to application. Adequate
、 conditioning permits the material to obtain its optimum application properties. 3.7 QUALITY The material shall be a smooth homogeneous mixture, free from foreign materials and properties detrimental to normal production operations. 3.8 WEIGHT PER VOLUME 7-8 lb/gal (0.84-0.96 kg/l) The weight tolera
、nce for any one supplier shall be +/- 0.2 lb/gal (+/- 0.024 kg/1) based on the recorded weight of his originally approved production sample per ASTM D 816. 5. 12、c. 5.3 CAUTION Materials used in this product may cause skin irritation. Hands and eyes should be protected when handling the primer. In case of contact, flush skin or eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. For eyes, medical attention should be provided. 5.4 FLAMMABILITY AND/OR TOXICITY
、This material represents a potential fire and/or health hazard. The Manufacturing Engineering Department shall notify both the Plant Security and the Safety Units of its presence in the plant to assure that proper fire and/or health precautions are provided. The location in which it is used or store
、d shall be included in the notifications. 5.5 CORROSION RESISTANCE 240 h Salt Spray (ASTM B 117) Test Method: . Clean cold rolled steel panels are coated with a dry film thickness of 0.0003-0.0010 in (8-25 m) of primer. After heat curing (per 3.6) the panels are test scribed for corrosion studies. . The panels are exposed to salt spray exposure for 240 h and then examined for corrosion resistance.
