2、ON:This specification was released originally for material used between adouble sheet metal dash panel to provide improved sound damping andreduced sound transmission on the 1984 diesel Continental/Mark VII. A 1mm thick sheet of the unexpanded polyolefin material is stapled to theinner dash panel be
3、fore the inner and outer panels are spot weldedtogether. After welding, when the vehicle body passes through assemblyplant paint cure ovens, the material expands filling the 1.7 mm designgap to provide a “constrained layer“ damped steel sound barrier.3. Test strips to be 300 x 20 x 0.76 mm. Bond material between two test

Disregard weight ratio calculations3.3.2 Constrained Expansion 6.0 - 8.0 cm(FLTM BV 21-1, 1.5 mm and2.0 mm gaps, 10 minutesat 182 +/- 2 C metaltemperature and 30 minutesat 204 +/- 2 C metaltemperature cure schedules)The material shall be completely bonded to both pan

10、n accordance with FLTM BN 24-2.3.5 PERFORMANCE - ENVIRONMENTAL AGINGAll materials, portions of components, and composites defined bythis specification that have not been treated, modified orreformulated and exceed a max burn rate of 3.0 in (76 mm) per minas specified by the Flammability Lot Sampling
11、 Plan of FLTM BN 24-2,must be evaluated for permanency of the materials flame retardantproperties per ESB-M25P3-A according to the acceleratedenvironmental aging requirements applicable to the basic materialcategory of this particular specification.Any material, portions of components, and composite
12、s defined bythis specification that have been treated, modified or reformulatedto conform to Flammability Lot Sampling Plan of FLTM BN 24-2,regardless of max burn rate, must be evaluated for both permanencyof materials flame retardant properties and changes in mechanical,chemical and physical proper

14、of ES-D3AB-11014-AA.3.7 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSISFord Motor Company, at its option, may conduct infrared and/orthermal analysis of material/parts supplied to this specification.The spectra established for initial approval shall constitute thereference standard and shall be k
15、ept on file at Ford Motor Company.All samples shall produce spectra that correspond to the referencestandard when tested under the same conditions as those specifiedon the master spectrum.3.8 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYMaterial supplied to this specification must be equivalent to thatoriginally approve
16、d. Changes in formulation or processing shallnot be made without prior approval as described in SupplierProcedure I-A.4. APPROVAL OF SUPPLIERS:Suppliers to this specification must be approved by the affected productengineering office. Procedure for gaining approval of a specificmaterial to a new/existing ES-M specification is contained in SupplierProcedure I-A. Approved new suppliers will be added to the EngineeringMaterials Approved Source List.
