Test Method: The top half of clean steel and aluminum panels shall be coa

、ted with 76 5 m and 152 5 m dry film thickness of the specified material and allowed to condition for 72 h at 22 3 C. Prior to testing, a thin line shall be drawn across the panel 3 mm below and parallel to the edge of the coating. Suspend the panels vertically (coated end up) in an oven for 30 min

Any evidence of flow beyond the reference line or other signs of deterioration shall be considered failure. 3.3.8 Freeze - Thaw Resistance The material s

、hall not crack, peel or lift from the surface of test panels after three exposures to -30 C with intermittent room temperature thaws. Test Method: Completely coat one side of clean steel test panels as described under para 3.3.7 and condition as indicated. Place the panels in a cold chamber maintain

、ed at -30 2 C for one hour. Remove the panels and maintain at room temperature for one hour. Repeat the freeze-thaw exposures three times. Examine the panels for cracking, peeling or lifting which shall indicate failure. 3.3.9 Salt Spray Resistance, min 500 h (ASTM B 117, 5% salt solution) No rust a

、nd pitting shall occur on the surface of steel panels coated on one side with 76 5 m of the specified material except for 4.7 mm from the scribe marks. 3.3.10 Corrosion Resistance 3.3.10.1 FLTM BI 123-01 (Lab. Simulated APG Test P3-76A) This test will usually be conducted with materials submitted by

、 Engineering such as chrome plated steel bumper sections, each approximately 152 mm long. The entire inside surface of the bumper sections (3 min) shall be coated with 76 to 100 m dry film thickness of the test material and conditioned for 72 h at 22 3 C prior to testing. After 100 cycles of testing

、, there shall not be more than one tenth percent (0.1%) of the surface covered with corrosion and not more than 4.8 mm of corrosion creep-in from the edges. No perforations or deep pitting permitted. 3.3.10.2 APG Test P3-76A This test shall be conducted with a minimum of 3 full size bumpers. The ent

、ire inside surface of the bumper sections (3 min) shall be coated with 76 to 100 m dry film thickness of the test material and conditioned as in para 3.3.7 prior to shipment to the Arizona Proving Ground for testing. After 100 cycles of testing, there shall not be any perforations or deep pitting on

、 the inside surface. The P3-76A test will take preference in cases where the pass or fail results differ between the FLTM BI 23-1 and P3-76A tests. Dry samples for 1-1/2 h at room temperature, 22 3 C. . Place in humidity chamber at 85% relative humidity

、 and 50 C for 19 h. . Dry samples for 1-1/2 h at room temperature. . Place samples in freezer at -30 C for 1/2 h. . Remove samples from freezer and leave at room temperature for 1/2 h. . Place samples in oven at 70 C for 1/2 h. . Remove samples from oven and leave at room temperature for 1/2 h. Afte

、r 20 cycles, there shall be no discernible deterioration of the test coating. 3.3.13 Compatibility with Nonmetallic Materials The specified coating shall not produce any deleterious effect on nonmetallic materials used in bumper systems. Immerse the nonmetallic samples submitted by Engineering, in t

、he liquid coating for 1 h. Clean the sample(s) with a compatible solvent and examine for compliance. 3.3.14 Resistance to Detergent Solution Coat steel and aluminum test panels with 76 5 m of the specified material and condition for 72 h at 22 3 C prior to testing. Immerse the panels about half way
