SCOPE The materials defined by these specifications are a temporary transit coating and a remover with very low volatile organic compounds (VOC) content. The c
3、oating is applied over the topcoat enamel. 2. APPLICATION These specifications were released originally for materials to protect the enamel topcoat from environmental fallout paint damage during transit from the assembly plant to the Dealer and during storage on the Dealers lot. The remover is a sol
4、ubilizer to be used by the Dealer to remove the protective transit coating prior to delivery to the Customer. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part prod
5、ucers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 COMPOSITION 3.2.1 ESB-M99J371-A1, Transit Coating The transit coating is an aqueous solution of suitable resins that will provide adequate protection against paint damage. The remover is an aqueou
6、s solution of suitable wetting agents, amines and/or ammonia which will solubilize the transit coating. Specific composition data will be submitted by the Supplier on request. 3.3 FILM PROPERTIES 3.3.1 Film Thickness Requirements Coating thickness on 8 - 10 micrometer or as horizontal surfaces only

Examples of these types of
8、 contaminants are, but not limited to, acid rain, pollen, insect bodies and excrement, and industrial fallout contaminants. 3.4.2 Acid Spotting Test Procedure: . Apply 5 spots 8 - 10 mm in diameter of 3.5 and 4.0 pH H2SO4. . Let spots sit on painted surface for 30 minutes. . Wash off spots and dry.
9、. Examine spots for film swelling, lifting and/or discoloration. . Paint degradation in the spotted areas in excess of the control panel constitutes a failure. . Repeat test at both 37 +/- 2 C and 54 +/- 2 C. 3.5 WEATHERING PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Florida Exposure 6 months, 5 s (FLTM BI 160-01) After 6 mon
10、ths Florida exposure the coating shall not cause dirt pick up which would cause paint damage on removal. The coating after Florida exposure shall be removable without causing degradation to the paint film. 3.5.2 Accelerated Exposure 500 h QUV (SAE J2020) The completed test panel shall be subject to the same requirements as described above for Florida exposure panels. 3.6 COMPATIBILITY The coating and remover shall be compatible with all painted and unpainted materials used on the exterior of the vehicles.
