2、PEThe pad printing defined by these specifications is an ink systemtr ansferred to the surface of exterior plastic parts by a pad printingprocess.2. APPLICATIONThese specifications were released originally for pad printing using inkfor graphics on tail lamp lenses.3. REQUIREMENTSNOTE: The painted pl
3、astic shall, in all cases, be compa tible with both theink system and plastic substrate.3.1 QUALITYThe quality required is that obtained with the best commercialpra ctice to consistently meet the performance requirements of thisspecification.3.1.1 SubstrateAs specified on the eng ineering drawing. E
4、ach new substratemust be evaluated and approved.3.1.2 Substrate PreparationShal l be cleaned by an acceptable process to remove moldrelease agents, fingerprints, oils, greases, dirt, moistureand any other contaminant which may interfere with adhesionto the substrate.3.1.3 HidingAll colors shall prov
5、ide complete visual hiding. 6、ping without damage.3.1.5 Appearance(FLTM BI 9-1)Shall match the approved master sample.3.1.6 Preparation of Test SpecimensWhen it is not feasible to test the actual part because ofsize, laboratory panels may be substituted. Test panels shallbe processed concurrent ly with production parts and/or sh
7、allbe representative of production parts with respect to allprocesses, including substrate, surface treatment, cleaningprimer, film thickness, color coat and cure cycles.3.1.7 OdorNo disagreeable odor within the temperature range of -18 to102 EC . Material that is considered to have a disagreeableod
8、o r by the Quality Control or product engineering officewill be subject to rejection.3.2 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES3.2.1 ConditioningAll te st values indicated herein are based on materialconditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 2 EC and 50 +/-5% relative humidity for 24 h prior to testing and tested
9、under the same controlled conditions.3.2.2 Initial Adhesion(FLTM BI 6-1 Part B)No flaking, chipping, blistering or delamination.3.2.3 Heat Aging(7 days at 82 2 EC)No blistering, tackiness or staining, and only s light dullingor changes in gloss. Color tone change or change in hue shallnot ex ceed a

Direct steam blast on scribed “X“ at 45 E angle 50 - 75mm from the panel for 15 s minimum.3.2.6 Water
12、 Resistance, min 240 h(FLTM BI 4-1)The pad printing shall not exhibit evidence of d eterioration,change in gloss, color or blushing.3.2.7 Adhesion After Water ResistanceAfter exposure per para 3.2.6, dry the test specimen with apaper towel, cloth, or air pressure. Then scribe an “X“through the decor
13、ating system to the substrate. After a 5 minrec overy period, apply with firm thumb pressure 1300 mm of2ESB- M3G48-A tape. Remove the tape by pulling one end at a90 E angle at mode rate speed. The following conditions shallbe basis for rejection:. Removal of the ink beyond 1.6 mm from the scribe lin

Any evidence of blistering of lifting of ink after taperemoval.3.2.8 Weathering ResistancePanels p repared in accordance with para 3.1.6 shall show aminimum degree of fadin g, spotting, chalking or dulling. Noloss of adhesion is permitted, and parts or test panels shallbe completely free from evi

16、istance After WeatheringAfter panels or parts have been subjected to either Floridaor weatherometer exposure specified in para 3.2. 8, they shallbe tes ted for 24 h water resistance as described in para3.2.6 or 3.2.7. Peelin g of any ink system in excess of 3 mmfrom the scribe mark shall be cause fo
17、r rejection. Generalblistering is considered failure.3.2.10 Solvent Resistance(FLTM BN 7-1, 10 cycles min. Substitute a painted plasticpanel for the textile m aterial. 18、.3.3 SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITYAll materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent inal l characteristics to the material upon which approval wasoriginally granted.Pri or to making any change in the properties, composition,constr uction, color, processing or labeling of the materialorig in
19、ally approved under this specification, whether or not suchchange s affect the materials ability to meet the specificationrequir ements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology andthe affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changesand obtain the written approval of the Mater
20、ials Engineeringactivity. Test data, t est samples and a new code identification areto be submitted with the request.Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply tothe materials addressed by this document. The restrictions aredefined in Engineering Material Specification WS S-M9
21、9P9999-A1, unlessa different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineeringdocument for the application.4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALSMat erials defined by this specification must have prior approval by theresponsible Materials Engineeri ng activity. Suppliers desiring approval ofthe ir materials
22、 shall first obtain an expression of interest from theaffec ted Purchasing, Design and Materials Engineering activity. Uponrequest, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineeringactivity its own laboratory rep ort to the specification (test results, notnominal values), the material designation and code number, and testspecim ens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be addedto the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
