SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a coolant concentrate composed essentially of monoethylene glycol and suitable corrosion inhibitors. 2. APPLICATION T
3、his specification was released originally for material which, when mixed with water, shall be a satisfactory fluid for automotive engine cooling systems. This material is for both initial fill and service use. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and
4、part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 QUALIFICATION The Materials Engineering activity reserves the right to subject candidate coolants to any investigation they may consider necessary and use the data derived for approval qu
5、alification. All candidate coolants shall be subject to fleet testing in accordance with the requirements of Ford Motor Company. 3.3 VERIFICATION The affected Material Engineering activity reserves the right to conduct verification testing. If the test results do not support the originally submitted
6、 data, the supplier must re-test the product in co-ordination with the affected Materials Engineering activity. This re-test must be conducted and certified by a mutually agreed upon test facility. 3.4 DOCUMENTATION Supplier must furnish to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed and
7、 certified copy of the attached Supplemental A and test reports demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification along with the manufacturing limits that apply to the material upon which approval is requested. All tests must be certified by a qualified and authorized rep

Prepare a 50% solution of the candidate coolant by mixing equal parts of corros
11、ive water (preparation described in ASTM D 1384) and coolant concentrate. Prepare a 50% mixture of each current Ford approved coolant in the same manner. Mix 10 mL of the diluted candidate coolant solution with 100 mL of each diluted Ford approved coolant solution in a 250 mL beaker. Cover and let s
12、tand 24 48 hours at room temperature in the absence of light. Those solutions which form a precipitate shall be tested in the Glassware Corrosion Test, para 3.5.3, with the same weight loss limits imposed. 13、 Ford Global Technologies, LLC Page 3 of 6 3.5.7 Storage Stability The coolant shall form no permanent gel when tested in the following manner: Put at least 60 mL of the coolant concentrate in a 100 mL polyethylene bottle and cap it snugly. Place in a circulating air oven at 65 +/- 2 C for 14 days.
14、After removal from oven allow to cool to room temperature, and visually examine for presence of gelatinous precipitate. If a gel is present, terminate test. If no gel is present dilute a 30 mL portion of the sample with an equal amount of corrosive water (preparation described in ASTM D 1384), and r
15、eturn to oven at 23 +/- 2 C for another 14 days. Check for get at 2, 7, 10 and 14 days. If get is present, terminate test. 3.5.8 Quality Control Upon engineering approval, supplier and affected Materials Engineering activity shall establish mutually agreed upon quality control limits, to be listed o
16、n Supplement B, and will be used for ongoing product verifications at mutually agreed upon frequencies.
