SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a colloidal graphite suspended in SAE 50 lubricating oil of specific chemical and physical properties. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for o
3、il used for prelubricating valve stems and guides during assembly and break-in. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 REQUIREMENTS FOR
4、GRAPHITE The graphitic carbon used for colloidal dispersion in the lubricating oil shall be micro-crystalline lattice structure with the following properties. 3.1.1 Graphitic Carbon Content, min 99.5% (ASTM D 271) 3.1.2 Moisture Content Trace (ASTM D 271) 3.1.3 Ash Content, max 0.5% (ASTM D 271) 3.1

9、erformance All material supplied to this specification shall be evaluated by Ford Motor Company prior to complete approval in terms of engine performance in the graphitic concentration specified under paragraph 3.3.1. Proof of actual engine effectiveness of subject solid film lubricant is evaluated
10、by comparing operation with the candidate graphitic oil to a currently approved or reference oil. The method specified is Ford Motor Company quality control tests QC-1 standard dynamometer test procedure for passenger and commercial engines and QC-6 100 hour durability test. 3.3.4.1 Intake and Exhau
11、st Valve Guide Wear Can be no worse than the base line established using currently approved materials. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION This information is for direction of the user and is not a requirement for the supplier. Prior to use of the material, it is suggested that the container be agitated in some manner to insure that the graphite will remain colloidal. The preferred method is 15 min agitation on a drum roller.
