2、EEL, EPOXY RESIN COATED ESE-M8G231-A3 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a steel laminated gasket which consists of three layers of steel. The block side plate and the cylinder head side plate are coated with a hi gh temperature resistant NBR elastomer on the outside. The middle
3、plate is coated with a high temperature resistant NBR on both sides. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material requiring exceptional compressive strength as w ell as excellent sealing at high temperatures as required by cylinder head gaskets. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material spe
4、cification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials 3.1 QUALITY SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Material suppliers and part p roducers must conform to the Companys Quality System Requirements. 3.2 INFRARED SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND/OR THERMAL ANALYSIS IR spectra and thermograms established
5、 for initial approval shall constitute the reference standard and shall be kept on file at t he designated material laboratory. All samples shall produce IR spectra and thermograms that correspond to the reference standard when tested under the same conditions. 3.3 CONSTRUCTION The gasket consists o
6、f three steel plates coated after assembly wit h an NBR elastomer. 10、 materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval was originally granted. Prior to making any changes to the material originally approved under this specification, whether or not such changes aff ect the materials ability to meet
11、the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify the affected Purchasing, and Materials Engineering activities (with reasons) of the proposed changes. Upon notification of the Company, further instructions will be provided. Note: Suppliers should be prepared to provide test data and samples
12、 demonstrating compliance to this specification, if requested. Substance restrictions imposed by regulations or Company direction applies to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are identified in Restricted Substance Management Standard WSS - M99P9999 - A1. 4. APPROVAL OF MATER
13、IALS Materials defined by this specification for direct supply to the Company must have prior approval. Certain materials subcon tracted by part suppliers may also require prior approval. These include materials critical to the Companys business for regulatory, safety, environmental or compatibility
14、 requirements or contractual agreements. Suppliers desiring approval of their mate rials shall first obtain an expression of interest from Purchasing, Design or Materials Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit a completed copy of their laboratory test reports, signed by a qualified and authorized representative of the test facility, demonstrating full compliance with all the requirements of this specification.
