SCOPE This specification defines the performance requirement of a marking ink applied to production parts. 2. APPLICATION This specification was rel
2、eased originally for materials used in marking inks on air cleaner cover and fuel filters. 3. REQUIREMENTS Test samples to be taken from either component parts or sample panels run through the production equipment. 3.1 ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING Immediately after each of the environmental exposures, the
3、ink must not show flaking, peeling, blistering, running, or any other effect that would alter the original appearance of the ink printing. After slightly rubbing the sample with a dry cotton cloth the printing must not be affected. 3.1.1 Immersion in ASTM Fuel B for 1 h at 23 +/- 2 EC. 3.1.2 Immersi
4、on in ASTM Oil #3 for 2 h at 121 +/- 3 EC. 3.1.3 Humidity cabinet for 24 h at 98 +/- 2% relative humidity and 38 +/- 3 EC. 3.1.4 Hold the panel for 1 h at -40EC then expose to heat for 1 h at 121 +/- 3 EC. 3.1.5 Heat test - 15 minutes at 149 +/- 3 EC. 3.1.6 Adhesion (FLTM BI 6-1) 3.3 SUPPLIERS RESPO

7、t the specification requirements, the Supplier shall notify Purchasing, Toxicology and the affected Materials Engineering activity of the proposed changes and obtain the written approval of the Materials Engineering activity. Test data, test samples and a new code identification are to be submitted
8、with the request. Substance restrictions imposed by law, regulations or Ford, apply to the materials addressed by this document. The restrictions are defined in Engineering Material Specification WSS-M99P9999-A1, unless a different suffix (e.g., A2 or A3) is specified on the engineering document for
9、 the application. 4. APPROVAL OF MATERIALS Materials defined by this specification must have prior approval by the responsible Materials Engineering activity. Suppliers desiring approval of their materials shall first obtain an expression of interest from the affected Purchasing, Design and Material
10、s Engineering activity. Upon request, the Supplier shall submit to the affected Materials Engineering activity its own laboratory report to the specification (test results, not nominal values), the material designation and code number, and test specimens for Ford evaluation. Upon approval, the material will be added to the Engineering Material Approved Source List.
