、ING, ZINC, SUPPLEMENTARY CHROMIUM TREATMENT ESF-M1P41-A NOT TO BE USED FOR NEW DESIGN 1. SCOPE This specification defines the performance for an electrolytic coating of zinc with a supplementary hexavalent chromium free treatment. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for a coati
、ng used for the corrosion protection of iron and steel surfaces. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specification requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.1 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard R
、equirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 ZINC PLATE THICKNESS 0.0002 - 0.0003 in (5 m - 8 m) The requirements for thickness apply only to significant surfaces. The specified plate thickness shall be required only on such surfaces of parts, as can be touched by a sphere 0.75 in (19.
、0 mm) in diameter, unless otherwise noted on drawings. 3.3 SALT SPRAY RESISTANCE, min 50 h (ASTM B 117) The plating shall show no white salts or corrosion products, visible to the unaided eye at normal reading distance, at scratches through the chromium film to the zinc plate or at unscratched areas
、 of the chromium film, except that white corrosion products at sharp edges shall not constitute failure. 3.4 QUALITY The plating shall be smooth, fine grained, adherent, and free from blisters, pits, nodules, indications of burning, and other defects. All details of workmanship shall conform to the best practice for high quality plating.
