、FT OR ANNEALED ROUND BARE ESF-M2L1-A 1. SCOPE The material defined by this specification is soft or annealed bare round copper wire. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for material used for electrical purposes. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS
、 Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 WIRE SIZE The wire size shall be specified on the engineering drawing and/or release according to the American Wire Gage number desired. Example: #28 Gage ESF-M2L1
、-A. 3.2 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION The copper shall be of such quality and purity that the finished product shall have the physical properties and electrical characteristics herein required. 3.3 ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY The electrical resistivity at a temperature of 20 C shall not exceed the following value
、s: . 875.20 Ohm lb/mile2(0.15328 Ohm g/m2) . 10.371 Ohm cmil/ft (0.017241 Ohm mm2/m) Resistance for any given wire must fall within the range obtained by calculating resistance for both the high and low diameter. The following formula may be used: Resistivity x Length Resistance = Cross Section Resi
、stance will be in Ohms. Resistivity - 10.371 (0.017241) Length - feet (metre) Cross Section - circular mils (square millimetres) The circular mils for any diameter wire may be calculated by squaring the number of thousandths of inches in any given diameter. 8、.5 DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCES The bare wire size shall conform to the specified diameter within the permissible variations shown in Table I. 3.6 FINISH The finished wire shall be free from all imperfections not consistent with the best commercial practice. 3.7 JOINTS The wire shall be one continuous len
、gth for each spool. There shall be as few joints as possible in the copper and such joints as are necessary to bring the wire up to the required spool weight shall be made by brazing with silver solder, or by welding. The diameter of the wire at the joint shall be substantially the same as of any ot
、her point on the wire. The surface of the wire at the joint shall be smooth. The tensile strength of the wire at the joint shall be at least 80% of the tensile strength of the wire 3 - 4 ft (0.9 - 1.2 m) from the joint. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification
、 and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 DENSITY For the purpose of calculating weights, the density of the copper shall be taken as 8.89 g/cm3(0.32117 lb/in3) at 20 C.
