SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a low carbon steel sheet coated with an aluminum-zinc-silicon alloy by a continuous hot dipping process. 2. APPLICATION This specification was rel
3、eased originally for material used in the manufacturing of components, such as heat shields, grass shields, and muffler wraps where improvements in corrosion, temperature oxidation resistance, and heat reflectivity are necessary over standard galvanized steel. It is typically available in cold rolle
4、d thicknesses from about 0.016 in (0.40 mm) to 0.074 in (1.90 mm). The thickness is the total of the base metal and coating. 3. A “triple spot“ is the average of three “single spots“ with one measurement being taken at diagonally opposite corners within the boundary formed by lines not less than 2 in (50 mm) from the sides a
9、nd 4 in (100 mm) from the ends. 3.6 COATING BEND TEST (ASTM A 525) The coated steel shall pass the coating bend test portion of the above standard without flaking. 3.7 SALT SPRAY, min 2000 h (ASTM B 117) Flat stock specimens shall be considered to fail in the salt spray test if the coatings have mor
10、e than six rust spots visible to the unaided eye for any square foot (930 cm2) or any rust spot larger than 1/16 in (1.6 mm) in diameter at the end of the specified period. 3.8 WELDABILITY (FLTM BA 113-01) In addition to conforming to the above requirement, the material must exhibit good weldability
