SCOPE The material defined in this specification is a pigmented paint coating and an associated clear paint topcoating (if necessary to meet the requirements listed herein). 2. APPLICATION This material system is used to recol
3、or selected interior trim components, generally for service usage. Individual parts to be painted must be specified by the product engineering office utilizing this specification. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to
4、 the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.2 GENERAL 3.2.1 This specification is not intended to limit the coating system to any specific materials or formulations, but rather defines the performance of the entire system as applied, according to the processing m
5、ethods discussed in para 3.6. 3.2.2 It is not intended to restrict this material to a particular method of curing. Air dry, force dry, moisture cure, or catalytically cured systems may be submitted; however, material approved will be based on an actual shop trial to evaluate the ease of processing w
6、ith any particular system of curing. 3.2.3 Performance checks of the subject materials will be conducted under the direction of the affected product engineering office and will consist of both laboratory testing and shop trials. 3.2.4 Must be safe to use and must be formulated to prevent a health ha
7、zard to any person using the product as directed. It must meet all federal, state and local regulations for packaging, handling and labeling. 3.2.5 The color coat material must have good hiding power characteristics; the film thickness necessary to meet the requirements of this specification must no
8、t be so large that the applied coating will cause a “filling“ of grained and textured surfaces. 9、 of settling which is not dispersed by normal agitation. 3.2.7 After application and drying, the coating shall not seriously affect the “hand“ of the substrate to which it is applied. Coated parts which come in regular body contact must not build up an electrostatic charge or have a coefficient of f
10、riction significantly different than an equivalent uncoated part. 3.2.8 No objectionable odor either during or after application of the subject material. This characteristic shall be judged by the product engineering office evaluating the candidate material. 3.2.9 The applied coating shall not adver
11、sely affect the function of the parts to which it is applied. 3.2.10 The applied coating shall be resistant to commonly encountered spills and be capable of being cleaned with common soaps, detergents and cleaners without streaking, staining or dulling. 3.2.11 The applied paint, after application an
12、d drying, shall not be adversely affected by commercially available stain resistant coatings, if such protecting coatings are commonly applied to the approved substrate(s). 3.3 PANEL PREPARATION 3.3.1 Shall be prepared using the same procedures, film thicknesses and substrates approved for painting
13、finished parts and assemblies as in para 3.5. 3.4 APPEARANCE 3.4.1 Color: After application and drying per the procedures discussed in para 3.6, the candidate material system must produce a commercial color match with the appropriate Ford Motor Company master panel. Acceptable color matches are to b
14、e specified by the affected product engineering office. 3.4.2 Gloss: Shall be determined using a 60 glossmeter per FLTM BI 110-01. After color coating (and clear topcoating, if necessary), the resulting surface shall not exhibit a gloss reading higher than the maximum allowable gloss for an equivale
15、nt color molded part of the same surface configuration. 3.4.3 Quality: The finished surface shall present a film free of cracks, craters, blisters, seediness and pinholes, with a minimum of mottling and haziness. 3.5 FILM PROPERTIES 3.5.1 Abrasion (FLTM BN 108-02, 500 cycles, 1000 g load, CS #10 whe
16、el) The color and pattern of the coating in the wear area shall be compatible in appearance with the adjacent unabraded areas. 17、 delaminate more than 10% of the applied coating. 3.5.3 Crocking AATCC chart rating 5 (FLTM BN 107-01) 3.5.4 “W“ Flex 500 cycles (FLTM BN 102-02) No evidence of crazing (milkiness), lifting (peeling) or cracking. 3.5.5 Cold Flex (FLTM BN 102-01) Shall remain flexible and not crack when bent 180 at -
18、29 C. 3.5.6 Fading (SAE J1885, 120 SFH) Shall not stain, exhibit color tone change or change in hue, in accordance with rating 5 of the AATCC chart for measuring transference of color. 3.5.7 H2S Staining AATCC chart rating 5 (FLTM AN 102-01) 3.5.8 Migration Staining (FLTM BN 103-01) No evidence of i
19、njurious exudation, adhesion (tackiness), separation, color transfer, or flattening of embossing, when placed face to face with itself and materials of the ESB-M2F4, 9, 62, etc. series. 3.5.9 Soiling, max 15% (FLTM BN 112-08) Higher values are acceptable if the soiled area can be readily cleaned wit
20、h commonly available cleaners. 3.5.10 Heat Aging: No evidence of tackiness or exhibit staining, color tone change or change in hue in accordance with rating 5 of the AATCC chart for measuring transference of color after 7 days in a recirculating oven at 102 +/- 2 C, and again after exposing the same
21、 samples to 20 SFH per SAE J1885. 3.5.11 Resistance to Perspiration and Bleeding (FLTM AN 101-01) No staining or discoloration. 22、bit color tone change or change in hue in accordance with rating 5 of the AATCC chart for measuring transference of color. 3.5.13 Flammability, max 100 mm/min (FLTM BN 024-02) The applied coating, after thorough drying, shall not cause the coated material to burn at a rate faster than 100 mm/min. 3.
23、5.14 Fogging (SAE J1756) Light Transmission Reading 60 - 100 Exudations resulting in running liquid, heavy beads and/or droplets, or a continuous film deposit on the surface of the glass plate are undesirable characteristics and shall be reported along with numerical results. If severe, these charac
24、teristics are causes for rejection. 3.5.15 Scuffing (FLTM BN 108-04, 100 cycles, 2 lb load, “A“ head) No evidence of lifting, peeling or excessive scuffing. 3.5.16 Mildew Resistance (FLTM BN 012-03) After application and drying, the applied coating must not mildew or show evidence of “pink staining“
25、. 3.6 PROCESSING The processes required to paint various trim components must be specified in detail by the product engineering office utilizing this specification. All information concerning application and curing of the coating system must be supplied to the affected product engineering office by
26、the coating manufacturer. 3.7 Each applicable substrate shall be approved by the product engineering office evaluating the subject coating or coating system. 3.8 STORAGE AND SHIPMENT No detrimental effects for a period of two years under normal conditions of shipping and storage. Supplier shall furn
27、ish all necessary information on types of material required for packaging and on the storage life of the material in each of the product packages supplied. For any particular size container or package for the product, the supplier shall furnish information on safe storage practice and recommendation
28、s as to maximum and minimum ambient temperatures and direct sun load conditions at which the product may be stored without adverse effects. 29、and physical properties are not specified herein, but an Engineering Quality Control Supplement will be issued to cover each approved material. The selected engineering approved source shall furnish appropriate chemical and physical properties along with the production tolerance limits that apply to
30、 the material(s) upon which approval was given. The agreed upon values and limits will be issued to Quality Control by the affected product engineering office. These values will then be used by Quality Control for ongoing quality verifications. The Quality Control Supplement is an integral requireme
31、nt of this specification. If more than one source supplies material to this specification, a Quality Control Supplement will be issued for each specific approved material. 3.10 LABELING 3.10.1 Provisions of this specification are applicable when material is used according to labeling directions. Any
32、 precautions involved in the use of the material must be clearly stated on the product label. 3.10.2 The label(s) for the material(s) must comply to the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all other provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission and all other applicable federal, state and
33、local regulations. Supplier shall furnish the affected product engineering office with the label(s). 3.10.3 Supplier shall furnish certification that the composition of his product has been examined and that the label recommended is in compliance with the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and all oth
34、er provisions under the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Completed Material Health and Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Substances Data Sheets must be submitted by the supplier to the Ford Motor Company toxicologist. 3.10.4 If applicable, supplier shall furnish a copy of the laboratory report whe
35、rein the product was evaluated under the procedures required by the Federal Hazardous Substances Act. 3.10.5 Supplier must furnish detailed application instructions and specific usage information for container labels. This portion of the label information must be approved by the affected product eng
36、ineering office. 3.10.6 If the label submitted by the supplier contains any advertising claims, suitable corroborative testing data must also be furnished. Such claims and data are encouraged. 3.11 MARKING Containers and cartons must be marked with a code indicating source and compounding date of th
37、e material. Supplier must furnish this code to the affected product engineering office. Container marking may be waived if approved in writing by the affected product engineering office. 38、he test report data furnished by the supplier showing compliance with this specification shall give the specific test methods followed and shall give specific answers to generalized requirements. 3.13 Generally accepted test methods (American Society for Testing and Materials, Society of Automotive
39、Engineers and Ford Laboratory Test Methods are preferred) and procedures should be followed where such methods are known, otherwise the methods of evaluation should be explained in detail. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 Comparative performance data ratings utilizing the requirements outlined above, comparing the proposed material(s) to presently marketed Ford Motor Company products, are encouraged.
