SCOPE: 1.1 INCLUDED TYPES: 1.1.1 1 Cords and cables specified in this standard shall be UL Listed / or Recognized (or equivalent OSHA NRTL, agency certified) for use in the
2、USA, and/or CSA Certified for use in Canada and I shall be the mark of these agencies. They shall be suitable for “extra hard usage“ as specified in the National Electrical Code I (NEC), Table 400-4. These cords and cables shall also be water-, chemical- and oil- resistant types, and rated 600 Vat I
3、 as follows: I A. Type ST00 portable cord. I B. Types SOW-A, SOOW-A portable cords. C. Portable power cable, similar in construction to type G, having three power conductors and three grounding wires (which combined equal the cross-sectional area of a power conductor) laid between the conductors. In
4、sulation and jacket material shall be equivalent or better performance to types indicated in A or B above. 1.1.2 Unless otherwise specified, cord and cable shall be round. 1.2 NORMATIVE REFERENCES: 1.2.1 1 I Cord and cable described in this standard shall also meet applicable requirements outlined i

APPLICATION: 2.1 I GENERAL: Cord and cable shall be suitable for heavy duty industrial service where continuous exposure to fluids, such as water, oil, I g rease, coolants and solvents, is encountered at temperatures up to 1 60 deg. C (140 deg. F); Shall also be suitable for other
8、uses from I -35 deg. C to at least 90 deg. C. 2.2 1 CORD: Types STOO, SOW-A, and SOOW-A portable cords shall be I suitable for wiring control devices on industrial equipment, such as I limit and pressure switches, solenoid valves, and similar apparatus 1 operated at nominal 115 Vat. The cord is also
9、 specified for 1 extension cords and lamps and related services (see Standard EW2). 2.3 I POWER CABLE: Power cable shall be used for wiring to motors and other apparatus operated at 240 and 480 Vat. The cable shall be available in conductor sizes AWG #14 thru #2. 3. REQUIREMENTS: 3.1 INSULATION AND
10、JACKET MATERIALS: The conductor insulation and the jacket shall consist of thermoplastic or thermoset material having water-, chemical- and oil- resistant properties. The jacket material shall comply with all requirements for Class II material as specified in UL 62. Rubber and rubber compounds are n
11、ot acceptable for insulation or jacket materials. 3.1.2 I Individual conductor insulation shall comply with UL 62 for I Extra Hard Service Cords. The thickness shall not be less than I specified in NEC Table 400-4. 3.2 COLOR: 3.2.1 I I I The insulation on each conductor of portable cord shall be per
12、manently colored per the Control Cable Conductor Color Code, Method 1 - Table K-l, and the color shall extend throughout the length and thickness of the material as follows: Three-Conductor - One each black, white, and green. Five-Conductor - One each black, white, red, orange, and green. I The gree
13、n insulation may include yellow tracer stripe(s). 14、ut the length and thickness of the material as follows: Three-Conductor - One black, one white, and one red. The three grounding wires may be bare or have green insulation. I The green insulation may include yellow tracer stripe(s). 3.3 FILLERS AND BINDERS: 3.3.1 I Non-hygroscopic and non-wicking ma
15、terials shall be provided I where fillers are required. 3.3.2 1 I A non-wicking, full-serve binder shall be applied over the assembled conductors and shall consist of tape, braid, or a wrap of multiple strands of thread or a combination thereof. 3.4 CONDUCTORS: 3.4.1 1 I I Conductors shall be strand
16、ed copper, Class K or M, soft annealed per ASTM B-174. IDENTIFICATION: 4.1 I HARD SERVICE CORD: Identification marking on portable cord and I power cables shall be durably marked on the surface at intervals I of 24 inches (61Omm) or less. Information shall
20、include the Type I designation, AWG size, Number of conductors, and manufacturers I name or mark, by permanent imprinting (embossing) on the surface of the sheath. The Underwriters Laboratory Listing or Recognition I symbol shall be shown on the cord or cable or on the spool, reel or 1 box. It may a
21、lso be shown on a tag attached to each coil. Tags or I labels shall contain the information required in 1 310-11(a). NEC Section- 4. 5. 2 1 POWER CABLE: Power cable shall be identified as I except it shall also be marked: THREE-CONDUCTOR I THREE GROUNDING WIRES. I TESTS: outlined in 4.1, AWG-WITH 5.
22、1 I Tests shall be conducted in accordance with UL 83 and UL 1581. 5.2 I Each insulated conductor in a length of completed cable shall with- I stand a 2kV alternating current test voltage for 1 minute. I APPROVAL OF NEW SOURCES: 6.1 I Materials supplied by new manufacturers to this standard shall have I laboratory and field trial approvals. 6.2 I Recommendation for inclusion of new manufacturers to the approved I listing shall be made in writing to the Electrical Standards
24、 Sub- I committee. All supporting data shall accompany the written request. 7. I MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBILITY: Material supplied to this standard shall 1 be equivalent in all characteristics to the material upon which approval I was originally granted and shall be suitable for the intended I applica
25、tion. Any change subsequent to approval shall require re- I evaluation by the Electrical Standards Subcommittee. 8.
