2、ONTENT OF SEWING THREAD Application This procedure is used to determine the percent by weight of finish on sewing threads. Materials and Apparatus Required Extraction Apparatus Solvent Extraction Apparatus (Soxhlet type) incorporating a reflux condenser and a 250 mL glass flask and suitable filter t

17、2 = Weight of dry thread sample after ethyl ether extraction where W3 = Weight of dry thread sample after ethyl alcohol extraction Note: When only total finish content is required, the test procedure can be shortened by following steps 1 through 6 and then proceeding directly to step 14 through 19.

18、The total finish is then calculated as follows: Percent of Total Finish = W 1 - W 3 x 100 W1 where W1 = Initial dry weight of thread sample where W3 = Dry weight of thread after ethyl alcohol extraction Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities.
