2、on This procedure is intended for use in the determination by Brookfield viscosimeter of the low temperature viscosities of new and used oils. The method consists of cooling a test sample of oil in the cold bath and determining the viscosity without removing it from the cold bath. Apparatus Required
3、 (See Sketch) Freezer Cabinet Revco Model ULT 659 or equivalent, capable of maintaining temperatures to minus 80 F. Insulator Cork or wood to prevent bath from resting on bottom of freezer. Stirring Rod Thermometer For viscosity bath (+ 60 to - 80 F). Coolant Alcohol, acetone, or other low freezing

Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise speci
7、fied. Procedure 1. Fill beakers with 275 +/- 5 mL of test fluid. 2. Heat test fluid in oven at 210 F for 30 minutes to remove any moisture present in test sample. Cool to 23 +/- 2 C. 3. Place Pyrex glass bath 12 inch diameter by 12 inch, into cold cabinet on insulator spacer. Adjust the height so th

Place indexing cover on bath and insert test beakers. 6. Adjust cold box to desired temperature and permit test samples to “soak“ for 16 hours. 7. I
9、mmerse thermocouple (iron constantan) into test sample so that it does not touch the sides or bottom of the beaker. 8. Attach Brookfield Viscosimeter with desired spindle and guard. Place in soak hole on plexiglass cover to stabilize to 23 +/- 2 C for 10 minutes minimum. 9. Remove Brookfield from so
10、ak hole and place on plexiglass leveling support pad which is adjusted to maintain the proper immersion to the depth indicated by the groove cut in the spindle. This groove mark indicates the maximum and minimum immersion. (See manufacturers specification.) 10. Set viscosimeter motor speed (60 rpm).
11、 With viscosimeter in the immersed level position, press down clutch lever; then start motor. FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BJ 003-02 Page 3 of 4 Copyright 2001, Ford Global Technologies, Inc. 11. Release clutch lever slowly and allow spindle to run for 8 to 10 seconds, which is generally sufficient t

Repeat taking readings as in Steps 9, 10 and 11 until three consecutive and identical readings are obtained. 14. Use the value of these ident
