Procedure 1. Set temperature regulator in test well to control the test lubricant
3、at 99 +/- 2 C. 2. Polish one SAE 1020 steel strip with sand paper for each lubricant to be tested (see figure 3). 3. Polish one standard Timken cup with sand paper for each lubricant to be tested and weigh. 4. Clean 500 mL beaker and weigh and add 200 mL of lubricant to be tested and weigh. 5. Add 2
4、.0 % distilled water by weight to test lubricant. 6. Hang SAE 1020 strip on each beaker flange ring (see figure 1). 7. Place one Timken cup in the bottom of each test beaker. 8. Place the beaker containing the test oil and water into the well or wells of the oxidation test stand. Insert the stirring
5、 rod through the opening of the stainless steel condenser cover and set condenser on beaker ring flange, with steel strip. 9. 6、, Inc. 10. Set automatic timer for 24 h after 99 +/- 2 C test temperature is attained and start stirring motor. 11. At the completion of 24 h of test, the steel strip and Timken cups are removed from each beaker. The test specimens are washed in petroleum ether and acetone and rated for stain and co
7、rrosion as follows: 9. No rust or stain 8. Slight stain 7. Slight stain and slight rust (does not pass) 6. Stain medium 5. Medium rust and stain 4. Complete black stain 2. Complete stain 12.
