2、 to determine if they are susceptible to pack-set creasing caused by the shipping of sewn trim covers inverted and compressed. Apparatus and Materials Required Environmental Cabinet Capable of maintaining controlled temperature and humidity conditions to +/- 1 C and +/- 2% relative humidity. 8 mm di
3、ameter mandrel 200 x 225 mm (minimum) hard rigid surface Mass of the rigid surface shall be 300 +/- 30 g. Acrylic sheet is one option 1.5 kg mass Paper clip - standard office grade Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is
4、 responsible for determining proper use and handling in its facilities. Procedure 1. Cut 2 specimens to dimensions 150 mm (machine direction, MD) x 100 mm (against machine direction, AMD). Label one specimen “MD Fold” and the other “AMD Fold”. If any A surface defects in grain, such as washout, nick
5、s or cuts, are on a cut specimen it should be discarded and recut. 2. Lay the “MD Fold” specimen, A surface up and place the mandrel in the center parallel to the MD direction, Figure 1. Then fold the specimen over the mandrel without creasing it and use a paper clip to keep the material from unfold
6、ing, Figure 3. 3. Lay the “AMD Fold” specimen, A surface up and place the mandrel in the center parallel with the AMD direction, Figure 2. Then fold the specimen over the mandrel without creasing it and use a paper clip to keep the material from unfolding, Figure 3. 4. Place both specimens on a soli
7、d flat surface in the environmental cabinet. Place the hard rigid surface on top of both of the specimens (Figure 4) and then the 1.5 kg mass on top of and in the center of the hard rigid surface. When compressed the gap between the specimen and the mandrel must be no greater than 10 mm. (Figure 5)

Program and run the environmental cabinet as follows: 0.5 h ramp to 38 +/- 1 C 90% +/- 2% R.H. 7 h at 38 +/- 1 C 90% +/- 2% R.H. 1 h ramp to 23 +/- 1 C 50%
9、+/- 2% R.H. 7 h at 23 +/- 1 C 50% +/- 2% R.H. 1 h ramp to 38 +/- 1 C 90% +/- 2% R.H. 7 h at 38 +/- 1 C 90% +/- 2% R.H. 0.5 h ramp to 23 +/- 1 C 50% +/- 2% R.H. 7. When the program is finished immediately remove the weight and unfold the specimen. 8. If a specimen has any distortion in grain noted pe
10、r the evaluation procedure below, place the specimen in the oven unfolded with A-surface pointed up at 38 +/- 2 C for 5 minutes and revaluate. Evaluation The specimens should be held approximately 0.5 m at a 45 angle and at eye level and evaluate with the fold direction both horizontal and vertical.
11、 Any distortion of the grain pattern forming a crease shall be reported. See Figures 6 and 7 below for examples of distortion in the grain pattern. Report Report appearance of the MD and AMD specimens as no gain distortion or grain distortion after the test and include the re-evaluation result for a
