2、the quality of paint over decorative plastic parts. Apparatus Required* The apparatus required for this test is shown in the attached illustration. It consists of a reciprocating motor and gear mechanism which actuates, through a rod, the abradant head assembly. The abradant head assembly consists o

3、f a cylinder or guide, attached to the reciprocating rod with set screws, and a 2 1/2 lb. abradant head having a 1/2 x 1/2 inch area contacting the test specimen under a load of 10 psi. The 2 1/2 lb. abradant head floats freely in the closely fitting cylinder. Note: The cylinder guide should be prov

4、ided with a key and the abradant head with a groove to prevent the head from rotating during the test. The 1/2 inch square contact area of the abradant head is covered with cotton duck (M99H73-A) which is held in place by the lower section of the abradant head. Four screws are easily removed to perm

5、it changing the abradant material. *An instrument such as the Stoll Wear Tester, or equivalent, apparatus with necessary modifications may be used, providing all test conditions are met. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controll

6、ed atmosphere of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Cut a flat section of the painted plastic from the finished part to be tested and fasten securely to the base of the wear

Abrade the test specimen for the number of cycles designated by the engineering specification. Each cycle consists of a forward and

8、 back stroke under the following conditions: (a) Load - 10 psi (b) Rate - 90 - 100 cycles/min. (c) Length of Stroke - 1 in. min. (d) Room temperature - 72 +/- 5 F Note: Replace the cotton duck abradant after each 50,000 cycles. 4. A failure constitutes any penetration through the paint to the plasti

9、c surface or primer if one is used. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
