2、e cementability of closed cell and chemically blown (open cell) weatherstrip assemblies in the “as received“ or normal condition and after accelerated aging. Apparatus and Materials Required Mechanical Convection Oven Maintained at 158 +/- 2 F. Humidity Cabinet Maintained at 100 +/- 2 F and 98 +/- 2
3、 % relative humidity. Vertical Tensile Test Machine Scale Range, 0 - 125 lb, with an accuracy of 1/2 - 1 % of the indicated load. Rate of jaw separation, 1 inch/minute. 5、 primer or sponge bonding surface Enameled Panels Freshly enameled steel panels prepared with M30J enamel as follows: Reduce M6J49 primer to a viscosity of 22 +/- 1 s with M14J10 thinner. Spray to a dry film thickness of .00025 - .00150 inch. Bake 20 minutes at 350 F. Wet sand to a dry film thicknes

Spray color coat of M30J enamel, reduced to a viscosity of 17 - 24 s (see note) with M14J10 thinner to a dry film thickness of .0015 - .0020 inch (thickn
7、ess of enamel coat only). Air dry for 3 minutes, bake 30 minutes at 250 F or 17 minutes at 265 F or other bake cycles designated by the material standard. Note: Spray at a viscosity which is applicable for the particular solid color or metallic color being sprayed on production. Once this viscosity
8、has been determined, all subsequent tests should be sprayed at the same viscosity. Age enameled panels for 16 h at 110 F or 72 h at 72 +/- 5 F prior to use for adhesion tests. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphe
9、re of 23 +/- 2 C and 50 +/- 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure A. Normal Adhesion Prepare three test assemblies for either open cell or closed cell sponge weatherstrip as follows: Open Cell Sponge W
10、eatherstrip 1. Brush ESB-M2G78-A, adhesive, on a 2 inch length of the sponge specimen. Allow to dry 1 h minimum but not over 4 h maximum. 2. Apply a .005 inch film of ESB-M2G14-A, adhesive, over the enameled panel by means of a scraper and allow a 1, 3 and 5 minute open time prior to bonding. The bo
11、nding is made by finger pressure. 3. Allow the bonded assembly to air dry at 72 +/- 5 F for 15 minutes. 4. Mount the test specimen in the test fixture as shown in the attached illustration and pull the bonded specimen at the rate of 1 inch/ minute. The specimen is supported by the fixture at an angl
12、e of 45 for the adhesion test. 5. Report “Normal Adhesion“ as the average load in pounds of three samples tested. Closed Cell Sponge Weatherstrip 1. Spray (preferred) or brush a thin even coat of ESB-M2G102-A primer to the sponge specimen and allow to dry for 10 minutes. 2. Brush ESB-M2G75-A, adhesi
13、ve, on a 2 inch length of the sponge specimen. Allow to dry for 1 h minimum but not over 4 h maximum. 14、 allow a 1, 3 and 5 minute open time prior to bonding. The bonding is made by finger pressure. 4. Allow the bonded assembly to air dry at 72 +/- 5 F for 15 minutes. 5. Mount the specimen at the test fixture as shown in the attached illustration and pull the bonded specimen at the rate of 1 inch/ min
15、ute. The specimen is supported by the fixture at an angle of 45 for the adhesion test. 6. Report “Normal Adhesion“ as the average load in lbs of three samples tested. B. Accelerated Aging Adhesion Prepare three test assemblies for each of the three tests described below. Refer to the engineering spe
16、cifications for the specified tests. Open Cell Sponge Weatherstrips Prepare the assemblies as described in Steps 1 - 5 under A Normal Adhesion - Open Cell Sponge Weatherstrip. Closed Cell Sponge Weatherstrips Prepare the assemblies as described in Steps 1 - 4 under A Normal Adhesion - Closed Cell Sp
17、onge Weatherstrip. Room Temperature Aging Air dry the bonded assemblies for 7 days at 72 +/- 5 F. Pull in the tensile tester at the rate of 1 inch/minute and report the average load in lbs. of the three samples tested. Dry Heat Aging Air dry the assemblies for 24 h at 72 +/- 5 F then expose in a mec
18、hanical convection oven for 7 days at 158 +/- 2 F. Remove the assemblies from the oven and allow to cool for 1 h at 72 +/- 5 F prior to measuring adhesion. Report the average load in lbs. of the three samples tested. Humidity Aging Air dry the assemblies for 24 h at 72 +/- 5 F then expose in a humid
19、ity cabinet maintained at 100 +/- 2 F and 98 +/- 2 % relative humidity for 7 days. Remove the assemblies from the cabinet and allow to dry for 24 h at 72 +/- 5 F prior to testing for adhesion. Report the average load in lbs. of the three samples tested. Chemicals, materials, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly.
