2、prepare stainless steel material for exposure to corrosion tests. Apparatus Required Buffing Wheels Wheel material for sections of Wheel No. CT -6 as specified by Forma x Manufacturing Co., or equivalent. Wheel Construction - Bias buff wheel, size 17 inches diameter by four sections (approximately 2
3、 1/2 inches wide). Wheel Load - 30 lb applied normal to the work surface (12 lb/inch wheel width). Wheel Speed - 1800 rpm, 8000 sfm. Buffing Compound Compound No. LK 551, supplied by McAleer Manufacturing Co., or equivalent. A 2 g shot is applied directly to the wheel at the start of each pass. The
4、compound shall be applied by pressure spray method with the nozzle adjusted to produce a spray covering the entire width of the wheel with a minimum of overspray. Buffing Machine Table speed - 18 ft/minute. The buffing machine shall be capable of satisfying the above conditions. Conditioning and Tes
5、t Conditions All test value s indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Cut samp les 4 x 8 inches
6、 from the coil. 2. Clamp the sample in the buffing machine and make 3 passes under standard conditions. 2 passes are made against the direction of wheel rotation and the final pass with the direction of wheel rotation. Chemicals, materia ls, parts, and equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled properly. Each party is responsible for determining proper useand handling in its facilities.
