、he functional strength of formed paper - type boards used as package trays and other interior trim components. Apparatus Required Testing Machine Instron Model 7M or equivalent . Accessories Aluminum support plate, approximately 18 x 16 x 1/2 inch. Bull dog or “C“ clamp. Pulley - 1 1/2 inch diameter

Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material condit ioned in a controlled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless othe
、rwise specified. Procedure 1. Cut a section of the formed board at least 6 inches wi de by the full depth of the part. 2. Calibrate the testing instrument, following the directions in the instruction manual. 3. Set crosshead chart speeds to 5 inches/minute by using proper gear combination as shown i
、n gear selection chart for various spee ds (see instruction manual). 4. Set load scale to 50 lbs. 5. Attach steel plate to crosshead. Attach wire to center of formed edge, either by hook, screw or “C“ clamp; insert through pulley on back edge of the support plate, and finally in the top jaws of
、the Instron (see diagram). 8. Slowly lower crosshead to remove slack in the wire and observe chart pen for alignment on zero load. 9. Start the test and record: (1) The force required to bend the formed edge to an imaginary line perpendicular to the point of tangency between the formed board an d th
