2、procedure describes the method for testing peel adhesion loads for bonded name plates. The name plates are bonded to aluminum scuff plates with a prescribed adhesive under heat and pressure. Apparatus Required Tensile Test Machine Scott or equivalent, scale range 0 - 100 lbs. Rate of loading is vari
3、ed from 1 to 12 inches per minute. Test Fixture The test fixture for peel adhesion is illustrated in Figure 1. The fixture con sists of a welded assembly with parallel rollers as illustrated. Conditioning and Test Conditions All test values indicated herein are based on material conditioned in a con
4、trolled atmosphere of 23 +/ - 2 C and 50 +/ - 5 % relative humidity for not less than 24 h prior to testing and tested under the same conditions unless otherwise specified. Procedure 1. Using an appropriate tool, gently attempt to lift the edges around the periphery of the sample to determine if sam
5、ple is effectively bonded at edges. If sample is not bonded at edges, discontinue test. 2. Cut section of the base plate which contains the bonded name plate. Cut section of trim, if necessary. Sample size 2 inches maximum width and 8 inches maximum length. If bonded section to be tested is wider th
6、an 1 inch, it must be scribed and cut through to provide a 1 inch maximum width. 3. Lift edge of one end of the name plate or trim with a spatula or knife edge and peel back 1/2 inch maximum. 7、 Global Technologies, Inc. 4 . Mount the assembly so that a 90 degree peel load can be applied to bonded insert or typical scuff plate mounting. See Figure 2. 5. Secure the bent tab of the name plate or trim in the upper jaw of the tensile machine. 6. Pull at a rate of 12 inches/mi nute and report t
8、he load in pounds required to peel the name plate or trim from the base plate. Express the load required to separate sample in pounds per inch of width. Record average load and the absolute minimum load. Chemicals, materials, parts, an d equipment referenced in this document must be used and handled
