12、ses, therefore, the supplier shall be required to assume liability. 1.0 SCOPE This specification gives dimensions, tolerances and mechanical properties for IS0 metric Bolts, Screws, and Screw and Washer Assemblies manufactured in North America. 2.0 3.0 4.0 DEFECTS GENERAL. Parts must be free from bu

13、rrs, seams, loose scale, irregular surfaces, sharp edges, etc., which affect performance or assemblability. For referee purposes regarding surface discontinuities, refer to ES-20000-S100. MATERIAL AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS - ES-21001-Sl00 3.1 FINISHES: See Finish Section AA. THREAD 4.1 THREAD SER

14、IES AND TOLERANCES: Metric bolts and screws shall be IS0 metric coafse thread, medium fit 6g, as specified in ANSI B1.13. 4.2 THREAD RUNOUT AND BOLT STRAIGHTNESS Runout: It must be possible to screw at least two threads of the bolt or screw into a hardened gage as illustrated in Figure 1. (Equivalen

15、t means is accept- able. ) Diametral clearance for the gage shall be .79 mm for all sizes through M20 and 1.57 mm for larger sizes. Straightness: The shank of the bolt or screw shall be straight within a maxi- miun camber of 0.006 xnm per mm of bolt or screw length for bolts or screws having nominal

16、 lenght of 300 mm or shorter and within 0.008 mm per mm length for bolts or screws over 300 mm in length. Typical gage and gaging is shown in ANSI B18.2.1, Appendix 11. (Equivalent means is acceptable. ) - 4.3 POINTS. The end of the thread shall be chamfered 1/2 to 1-1/2 threads long and1 be tapered

17、 to a point that is equal to or slightly less than the minor diameter of the thread. A slight rim or cup on the end of the point, resulting from roll threading, is permissible. The nominal length of a Bolt, Screw, or Screw

21、and Washer Assembly is the distance from the bearing face of the head to the farthest end of the threaded portion including any chamfer or radius but excluding a special feature such as a pilot point. The nominal length of a Hexagon Head Eolt, Screw, or Screw and Washer Assembly having a special fea

22、ture such as a pilot point is the distance from the bearing face of the head to the farthest witness of the screw thread. 5.2 TOLERANCE ON LENGTH. The length of thread on bolts shall be controlled by the

26、 grip gaging length LG mu. Grip gaging length LG max. is the distance measured parallel to the axis of bolt, from the underside of the head to the face of a non-counterbored or non-countersunk standard to thread ring gage assembled by hand as far as the thread will permit. LG max. represents the min

27、imum joint thickness (stack up) and shall be used as the criteria for determining thread availability, when selecting bolt lengths even though usable threads may extend beyond this point. 6.2 BASIC THREAD LENGTH. % is a reference dimension intended for calculation purposes only, which represents the

28、 distance from the extreme end of the bolt to the last complete (full form) thread. 6.3 BODY LENGTH. LB min. is the distance, as measured parallel to the axis of bolt, from the underside of the head to the last scratch of thread or the top of extrusion angle. 6.4 TRANSITION THREAD LENGTH YT, is a re

29、ference dimension, intended for calculation purposes only, which represents the length of incomplete threads, tolerance on grip length and an allowance to permit the use of common tooling for more than. one screw length. 6.5 HEXAGON HEAD BOLTS AND HEXAGON FLANGE HEAD BOLTS THREAD LENGTH dimensions a

30、re given in Table 2. 6.6 SCREWS (Except Oval Head) in length up to 80mm shall be threaded to permit a standard go ring gauge to be assembled by hand to within a distance: Screws without washer assemblies-from the bearing surface of the head not exceeding 2 thread pitches. Screws with washer assembli

31、es-from the bearing surface of the washer face not exceeding 1.5 thread pitches. The threaded length for screws over 80mm in length shall have a minimum full form thread length of 75mm.
