SCOPE: This standard describes the minimum requirements for allprotective rain clothing to be used when an employee
2、may be exposed toopen flame, molten metal or other sources of extreme heat.2. APPLICATION: This clothing shall adequately protect employes from theelements and shall be nonburning and acid resistant.3. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: All garments shall be waterproof with flexiblenonconductive buttons attached
3、to front of garment. Button attachmentmust be stronger than garment base material and attached to garment inmanner that will last for life of garment. All seams to be stitched withnylon thread and/or seam welded, including buttonholes. All seams to bewaterproof for life of garment.3.1 RAINCOATS: Rai
4、ncoats shall be single back construction with set-insleeves, stand-up waterproof corduroy collar, inside storm flyfront, two side patch pockets with flaps, and nonconductive armvents.3.2 RAINPANTS: Pants shall be full cut bib style with heavy-dutyelastic suspenders, nonconductive buttons at top of b
5、ib, andsuitable gusset in crotch. Pants shall have a safety fly withnonconductive flexible buttons.3.3 RAIN JACKETS: Jackets to be single back construction with set-insleeves, stand-up waterproof collar, inside storm fly front withflexible nonconductive buttons.4. MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:4.1 GENERAL R
6、EQUIREMENTS: Material to be waterproof, nonburning, acid,abrasion, tear and grease resistant.4.2 WATER RESISTANCE: Waterproof.4.3 PROPAGATION TEAR RESISTANCE (ASTM-D-1938): 4 pounds (1814 g)minimum in both directions.4.4 WEIGHT: 10 ounces (283 g) per square yard - minimum.4.5 FLAME RESISTANCE (ASTM

8、ted copies are uncontrolled.Systems Engineering (ESSE) Page 2 of 34.7 GASOLINE AND OIL RESISTANCE: The material shall show no deleteriouseffects after being immersed for 48 hours at room temperature in thefollowing solutions: Gasoline and oil mix (50/50), ASTM-No.1 Oil,and ASTM-No.3 Oil.4.8 HEAT RES
9、ISTANCE: The material shall show no signs of deleteriouseffects, such as cracking, crazing, or noticeable shrinkage afteraging 2 hours at 212 +/- 5 F (100 +/- 5 C).4.9 COLD RESISTANCE: The material shall show no signs of cracking orcrazing when folded 180 degrees after one hour at -40 +/- 2 F (-40+/
10、- 2 C). (Note: Test to be performed in cold box.)4.10 ABRASION AND WEAR RESISTANCE (FORD LABORATORY TEST METHOD BN8-2):After wear and abrasion test, the materials wear pattern and colorshall be compatible in appearance with the unbraided area of thetest specimen (250 cycles, 500 g ld. CS No.10 Wheel
11、s).4.11 COLOR: Safety Yellow.5. GARMENT MARKINGS: All markings shall have blue letters on yellowbackground and be imprinted on garment in manner which will preventdiscoloration, fading, and smearing, after laundering, for life ofgarment. Standard “FORD“ oval emblem, 7-3/4 inches (197mm) x 3-3/4inche
12、s (95mm) shall be centered between shoulders. Top of emblem to belocated 6 inches (152mm) from top of collar when folded. MANUFACTURERS IDENTIFICATION: Each garment shall have a manufacturersident
16、ification tag located inside garment giving Ford Standard number,garment number and date of manufacture. This tag shall be punched orprinted and shall not discolor when laundered for life of garment.8. SAMPLING PROCEDURE: A sample garment from any shipment may by selectedand forwarded to the Central
17、 Laboratory Services for testing inaccordance with the provisions of this standard. Copies of the resultantlaboratory reports will be forwarded to the appropriate plant or divisionindustrial safety section. Failure of any sample on any test shall causerejection of the lot represented by the sample.
18、Continued failure ofsamples will result in the disqualification of the affected supplier.9. SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY: All garments supplied to this standardmust be equivalent in all characteristics to the garments upon whichapproval was originally granted and shall be satisfactory for theintended ap
19、plication.10. APPROVAL OF NEW SUPPLIERS:10.1 Garments submitted by new manufacturers must have laboratory andshop trial approvals. Recommendations for addition of newmanufacturers to the Manufacturing Approved Source (ASL) must bemade in writing to the Plant Engineering Office, ManufacturingStaff. All supporting data must accompany the written request.10.2 The Plant Engineering Office, Manufacturing Staff, and theEnvironmental Health and Safety Manager, Personnel and OrganizationStaff, will review requests to determine approval.
