SCOPE: This standard describes the requirements and recommend usage fortinted plate lens gas welding coverall goggles.2.
2、GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Gas welding coverall goggles must be fitted withstandard 2 in. x 4-1/4 in. (51mm x 108mm) filter lens and cover plateand fit over either plano or prescription safety glasses as approved inManufacturing Standard SD3-1, Spectacles - Safety, and IndustrialRelations Administration
3、Manual, Volume III, Section C, Topic 700, SafetyProcedure - Occupational Prescription Safety Glasses, and provide eyeprotection from harmful rays, heat, molten metal, sparks, and flyingparticles.Where headrests are specified, the eyeshield shall be assembled to aheadgear which can be readily adjuste
4、d to fit any headsize. Thesuspending arms or the hinged suspending device for retaining theeyeshield to the headgear shall be of rigid material and construction.The retaining unit shall be firmly secured by a pivot assembly that shallpermit raising of the eyeshield to an inoperative position.Design
5、of the goggles shall permit lens and parts replacements withoutthe use of specialized tools.3. RECOMMENDED USAGE: The gas welding coverall goggle is recommended foroxy-acetylene welding and cutting, brazing and furnace work. This goggleshall not be used for arc welding. Jobs or locations requiring g
6、aswelding coverall goggles shall be designated by the safety representativeApproved industrial safety glasses shall be worn in conjunction with gaswelding coverall goggles.4. SPECIFICATIONS: Gas welding coverall goggles shall conform to theappropriate requirements of American National Standards Inst
7、itute (ANSI)standard Z87.1-1979, Occupational and Educational Eye and Face Protectionand later revisions as they appear.Cover plates, made of heat treated glass or of slow-burning plastic shallbe used to protect the filter plates from damage. The cover plates shallbe the same size and shape as the f
8、ilter plates and shall not be lessthan 1.2mm (0.05 in.) thick. ORDERING INFORMATION: Each order must state the manufacturing standardsnumber, name of the goggle, type of headgear, type of cover plate andfilter plate shade number and type.Replacement lense
10、s must be ordered specifically for this type goggle byname and shade number.6. SUPPLIERS RESPONSIBILITY: All goggles and lens supplied to thisstandard must be equivalent in all characteristics to the goggle and lensupon which approval was originally granted.The supplier is to certify in writing that
11、 all components supplied underthis standard conforms to ANSI Z87.1-1979, or later revisions as theyappear.7. APPROVAL OF NEW SUPPLIERS:7.1 Pricing of goggles from proposed new suppliers should be determinedto be cost competitive by Purchasing and Supply Staff prior toobtaining laboratory and shop tr
12、ial approvals. After the producthas been determined to be cost competitive, gloves submitted by newmanufacturers to this standard and concluded to be cost competitivemust have laboratory and shop trial approvals. Recommendations forthe addition of new manufacturers to the Manufacturing ApprovedSourc
13、e List (ASL) must be made by the appropriate division standardsactivity in writing to the Plant Engineering Office, ManufacturingStaff. All supporting data must accompany the written request.7.2 The Plant Engineering Office, Manufacturing Staff, and theEnvironmental Health and Safety Manager, Employee Relations Staff,will review requests to determine approval.
