SCOPE The material defined by these specifications is a stone peck preventive for special exterior body areas or assemblies. The material will be applied (pneumatic o
3、r airless) on baked electrocoat prior to or after the spray primer operation (wet on wet). The material must be also suitable for hot spray application. 2. APPLICATION The material in these specifications is used on areas where high stone peck resistance is required. 3. REQUIREMENTS Material specifi
4、cation requirements are to be used for initial qualification of materials. 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Material suppliers and part producers must conform to the Companys Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1 COMPOSITION 3.1.1 Vehicle Synthetic re
5、sin. Water soluble as well as solvent based systems are permitted. 3.1.2 Pigment Inert pigments and fillers to provide the desired color. The use of non-inert pigments or fillers, e.g. zinc oxide, zinc sulfide, calcium carbonate is not permitted. 3.1.3 Toxicity The material shall not contain toxic c
6、omponents, e.g., lead or lead compounds, benzene, chlorinated hydrocarbons etc., in excess of that permitted by the safety regulations currently prevailing in the country or plant where the material shall be used. 3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.2.1 Non-Volatile (FLTM BI 102-01) According to approved init
7、ial sample report +/- 1%. 8、tial sample report +/- 10 seconds (if thixotropic within acceptable tolerances). 3.2.4 Flash Point The flash point shall conform to the safety regulations applicable to the plant and/or country where the material shall be used. 3.2.5 Shelf Stability During a storage of 3 months at room temperature,
9、the material as received shall not gel or liver upon standing and must be free from settling which cannot be dispersed by normal agitation. The viscosity of the material shall not increase in excess of 20 seconds when tested according to FLTM BI 102-03. 3.3 PREPARATION OF TEST PANELS 3.3.1 Substrate
10、 Body steel according to DIN Standard 1623, Type RRSt 14-05 or according to CRI (E) BS 1449 Part 1B, 1962. Surface finish 45 - 65 CLA (micro-inches). 3.3.2 Zinc phosphating according to S-M3P1-B. Panels shall be phosphate coated under production conditions. If no newly coated panels are available, p
11、anels shall be dried 3 minutes at 105 C metal temperature. 3.3.3 Application of electrocoat primer S-M64J4-C or equivalent baked according to material specification. Material testing has to be performed on that EC material foreseen as substrate. 3.3.4 Application of Material Under Test 3.3.4.1 Versi
12、on A Application of stone peck resistant material SK-M99J9587-A/B to a dry film thickness of approximately 120 +/- 20 micrometer by suitable spray method. After a flash off time of 1 minute spray a full hiding coat (approx. 20 micrometer) of SK-M6J9556-A or approved equivalent, spray primer of curre
13、nt production. After 3 minutes flash off time bake according to material specification requirements, further process of topcoat application according to FLTM BI 103-02, Method Bb. Apply S-M32J100-A/E black or dark color for testing according to item 3.7.2, S-M32J110-A/S-M32J111-A basecoat/clearcoat
14、silver metallic for testing according to item 3.7.4.1, section 2, S-M32J100-A/E white for all other tests. After 1 minute flash off time spray a full wet hiding coat of SK-M21J9550-A black (dry film thickness approx. 20 micrometre). Flash 3 minutes an
16、d bake according to requirements of primer material specification. 3.4 AGEING Panels shall be aged 10 hours at 45 C or 72 hours at room temperature prior to testing. 3.5 APPEARANCE 3.5.1 Color SK-M99J9587-A Grey SK-M99J9587-B White to light grey 3.5.2 Gloss Matt to semi-gloss 3.5.3 Surface Smooth, o

Any color tone change, tackiness or softening of the enamel coat are not acceptable. 3.7 RESISTANCE PROPERTIES 3.7.1 Salt Fog Resistance 240 h (FLTM BI 103-01) No blistering and rusting on panel surface and no more than 4 mm rust creepage and/or loss
19、of adhesion from a line scribed to bare metal. Note: Disregard any film breakdown within 5 mm of all panel edges. 20、permanent softening or loss of topcoat gloss. 24 hours after finishing the water immersion test, adhesion test according to Section 3.6.2 shall be performed. 3.7.3 Stone Chip Resistance 3.7.3.1 FLTM EU-BI 057-02 Rating 0 3.7.3.2 FLTM BI 157-04, max Rating 2 Test equipment “Erichsen, VDA Type 508“. 3
21、.7.4 Weather Resistance 3.7.4.1 Florida Exposure Panels shall be exposed in the Miami, Florida area for one year, 0.09 radius facing south. Panels shall diagonally scribed to bare metal. After exposure, panels shall exhibit neither blistering, peeling, more than 4 mm rust creepage from the scribed l
22、ines nor film breakdown due to defects caused by SK-M99J9587-A/B. In addition, test panels prepared according to clause 3.3.4.1 and 3.3.4.3 are sprayed with S-M32J110-A/S-M32J111-A basecoat/clearcoat silver metallic in production use, diluted with thinner as released to spray viscosity. Note: Test w
23、ith basecoat/clearcoat silver metallic is to be omitted for plants where this paint system is not in use or not scheduled for introduction. Panels shall be exposed in the Miami, Florida area for 6 and 12 months, 0.09 radius facing south. After exposure, immerse panels for 24 hours in water as descri
24、bed in FLTM BI 104-01. No blistering or visible deterioration permitted. 24 hours after removal from water test adhesion according to FLTM BI 106-01, Method C, and apply tape 3M70, 38 mm in width, over sanded and unsanded area of the dried off panel by pressing firmly. Remove tape with an upward mot
25、ion at a medium speed. No loss of adhesion of basecoat or clear topcoat permitted. 26、es in the test results of Florida exposure and accelerated weathering the result of the Florida exposure shall govern. 3.7.5 Temperature Cycling Test Test panels prepared according to Section 3.3.4 shall be subjected three times to the following cycle: 3 h + 80 +/- 2 C 1 h room temperature 3 h - 40
27、+/- 2 C 1 h room temperature 16 h + 38 +/- 2 C, 98 +/- 2% relative humidity After last cycle leave test panels at room temperature for 3 to 4 hours prior to evaluation. No cracking or other surface deterioration caused by the stone peck resistance material. Adhesion must fulfill requirements of Section 3.6.2. 3.7.6 Chipping Resistance, max Rating 0 (FLTM EU-BI 007-01) 3.8 PAINT REPAIR Test panels prepared according to clause 3.3.4.1, Version A, but with an additional repair coat of the same color (standard bake) must fulfill resistance properties of clause 3.7.3.
