、 different symbols are commonly used. This staudard establishes a symbol for each of the most essential characteristics of a grinding wheel, aud arranges these syabols in uuifozm sequence. This is au International Stendard System ofMarkiugs* in accordance with IS0 B525. Wheels bearing the same staud
、ard markinga if made by different wheel rmnufacturers cay not and probably will not produce the seme gxinding action. This desirable result cmuot be accomplished because of the impossibility of correlating sny m easurable physical properties of bonded abrasive products in terms of their grinding act

、d 2.1 Abrasive Abrasives naturally fall into two distinct groups, namely the Aluminium Oxide group and the Silicon Carbide group. Letter symbols axe used to identify these two groups, as follows: A Aluminium Oxide C Silicon Carbide Uhere it is necessary to designate some particulsx type of these bro
、ad claasee, the manufacturer may use his own generally recognised symbol or brand designation as a prefix. 2.2 Grain Size Grain size is indicated by a number. If and where it is necessary to indicate a special mixed grain combination, the wheel menufacturer may
、use an additional symbol appended to the regular grain symbol. 2.3 Grade The grade is indicated by a letter of the alphabet, A to 2, soft to hard, in all bonde or processes. 2. 4 Structure The use of a structure symbol is mandatory. Numbers from 0 to 14 cover the range of structures used. Progressiv
